Spring is in the air! The weather is finally starting to warm up here in Nashville and the trees and flowers are just starting to peek their leaves and buds out for the rest of us to see. There’s been a few warm lovely afternoons or weekend days so far and the nice weather has really made me want to sit outside for a bit with a tasty drink in my hand. Since I’m 8 months pregnant at the moment I’ve been exploring the world of mocktails more than I have before and I really wanted to make a drink that would hit all my mocktail cravings at the moment; slightly sweet, fresh and fruity, with bubbles of course!
Grapefruit Citrus Sparkler, serves one
4 oz grapefruit juice
6 oz sprite, 7up, club soda, or flavored sparkling water
wedge of fresh lime
wedge of fresh lemon
splash of simple syrup (optional)
rosemary or thyme and grapefruit wedge for garnishAdd your grapefruit juice into your glass (don’t you love those gold fern glasses?). Squeeze in your wedge of lime and wedge of lemon. Top off with 7up, stir to combine and add a few ice cubes. Taste to see if you want to add a dash of simple syrup. If you are using grapefruit juice from the store and don’t like drinks too sweet, you may not need the simple syrup, but if you use a fresh grapefruit it may be on the sour side where an extra dash of sugar would be helpful. Add your garnish and serve! If you are making multiples of this drink at once, I would mix the grapefruit, lemon, and lime in a cocktail shaker first (like this pretty gold one) and then pour in the pop (or soda, or whatever you say) once you portion out your citrus mixture. Yum! Like I said, this drink hits all the craving points for me lately and we are planning a “let’s get in one last party before baby” shindig soon so I think this will be the mocktail of choice for that night too! xo. Laura
Note: If you’re enjoying this as part of the Weekday Weekend Challenge be sure to use club soda or a unsweetened flavored sparkling water and no simple syrup. Add a little honey if you like.

I don’t really like the taste of alcohol, but I do love me a good citrus drink. This is perfect for me!

I need to give this a try, I’ve been missing cocktails since I cut down on the amount of alcohol I drink and I’d love to make mocktails at home rather than paying a small fortune for them in a cocktail bar.

I was thinking the same thing! I love that cup, but the straw really adds that extra touch.

Love to see your cute preggo belly in the martini shaker reflection 🙂
You could add bitters to this and it would taste even MORE like a cocktail, ha! Though bitters are alcoholic…but it seems like a drop or two would be fine? Don’t listen to me, I don’t have kids. Just a thought 🙂
This looks so good! I think that this drink would also be good with flavored kombucha instead of the sprite!

Perfect for the incoming summer 🙂
Ahh this sounds like the Perfect spring drink ! And it looks super pretty as well ??
I’ve been making a very similar mocktail myself during my pregnancy, but instead of sprite/7up I’ve been using coconut La Croix. The coconut gives it a bit of a tropical taste and it is super refreshing. I’ll have to mix one up tonight to sit out on the patio! (hint: the coconut La Croix is really good with a spash of wild berry/cranberry juice and lime as well)
Great tip! Thanks, I do love the coconut flavor 🙂

When I was pregnant I wanted drinks with a bit more bite to them (flavor-wise). I found that drinks with balsamic vinegar had more depth and felt more like a cocktail. Try this one http://www.lacroixwater.com/recipes/strawberry-basil-perfection/
your bump reflection on the shaker is the best part of this whole post!
I’m alcohol detoxing right now so this is perfect! I think I would substitute the 7Up with sparking water.
It looks and sounds incredible! I LOVE the glasses too!
aah its so great. i like all about citrus
