Photo 985bhi pals. i did a little guest blog yesterday for Polka Dot Robots. i love Vivianna and her sweet blog.

random thoughts… the iPad… i don't know, i'll probably buy one but i'll try not to be a nerd at the front of the line like i was on iPhone day ;). i haven't done much research yet, but i like the idea of blogging while we are on road trips ect… what are your thoughts (as it relates to blogging and keeping up with e-commerce)?

Ipad i loooooove having a pug. she's the best!!

Photo 99321073_507301648320_204900292_30584456_2685466_ni had the pleasure of meeting Jennifer, a sweet blog reader, this week. she was in Springfield on her HONEYMOON! [congrats, Jennifer!!!] i pointed her to all my favorite vintage spots (she has a vintage sweet tooth too) and i hope she found some amazing treasures. meeting amazing people from my blog is hands down my favorite part of owning my local store.

hmmm.. what else? this day has disappeared extremely fast and i have projects coming out of my ears for this weekend…. so i'd better get to it! if you haven't had a chance to read my post (below) about advise for aspiring artists & business owners, please do.
Photo 975not sure if you can tell in this photo, but i painted my nails with tiny Xs (like cross stitch) on the tips. ๐Ÿ™‚ weekend to do list: prep. a mini update for RVA, share two new paintings tomorrow and take some fun new photos in my studio. XOXO. elsie

  • I buy technology for a living and I posted a review of the iPad on my blog. Pls see it and tell me your thoughts. http://nanandbags.typepad.com

also I have a pug too, she is curently being nursemaid to me. Hopefully her snuggles will cure my headache. ๐Ÿ˜‰ nan

  • I personally wouldn’t get an iPad. It’ll run on the same operating system as the iPhone, and while that’ll help integrate certain programs and apps, it won’t really help you with your blogging. You’re better off waiting for the Microsoft Courier, which is like an infinite journal.

I’ve done a lot of reading re: both slates…and it seems like the iPad is more geared towards entertainment (music, movies, games) and the Microsoft Courier is geared more towards business (writing, sharing, drawing, clipping photos, taking photos, etc.). I also read somewhere that the iPad doesn’t come with a camera…? I don’t know if that’s true, but if it IS true…come on, Steve Jobs. I mean, really! *hands on hips* The courier, however, does come with a camera. I love the courier. Check out its functions on Youtube. LOVE IT!

  • by the way…every time i tried to post a comment on your blog through firefox, i’ve had the worst luck. i posted about 3 messages today on some of your older blogs…to no avail. ๐Ÿ™ i’m so sad they’re lost! i guess i’ll have to Internet Explore it for now!

by the way…i’m not hating on apple. i have an iPhone, and i’m still in love with it as the day i got it. looooves it. but the Courier is intriguing and is, i think, a wonderful investment for the creative business person. ๐Ÿ™‚ which is why i’m gonna shell out whatever Microsoft asks me to in order to buy one!

  • You can get an app for the iphone called Blog Press Lite. Its compatible with typepad so you can blog on the go! It lets you also upload pics straight from your phone. Try it out! Plus…. its free. ๐Ÿ™‚

  • It’s true! ipad does not come with a camera or USB slot. what gives! it’s still kinda neat, though.

p.s. pugs are one of my fave dogs. i used to buy pug calendars every year when i was a child hoping one day my dad would buy me one. he got a german shepherd, instead. hah..

  • It will be interesting to see how blogging goes on the iPad. the silly iPhone has frustrated me to no end with the blogging (or no blogging) on the road. maybe you can try it first and let us all know if it’s wonderful or not!

  • Oh I love pugs! I’m thinking it would be the best type of dog for my current sitch…is there anything about them thats a little annoying that I should watch out for/ be warned about?

  • holy cow… my readers are genius. i never thought to look for a blogging ap & there was a free one for typepad. i’m silly.
guess that the ipad might not have a purpose in my life after all…. esp. since it doesn’t have a usb or camera. THANKS!

    love you!

  • AImee, some people thing pugs are annoying b.c they are VERY loud breathers. they also snore. i personally loooooove that, but it’s something you should know! XO.

  • The iPad is kind of useless in general. There’s no multitasking, no camera, no USB or Firewire ports, no Flash. You can use it as an e-reader, but only if you live in the US as you HAVE to buy your ebooks from the iBookstore. Nowhere else. You can only use apps available in the app store. It’s just a really sleazy way to make more money.

I love my MacBook (and yes, I realize I could’ve just put a different OS on my PC) but I think the way Apple is run is really skeezy, dirty and just.. not smart.

It’s just a big iPod Touch, basically.

  • yur posts are always so cute! i love reading your blog. ๐Ÿ™‚ of course ms suki is a doll! i love pugs. and those nails are super cute! as for the ipad, i’m not much of an electronics kinda gal but my boyfriend was drooling over it yesterday. lol ๐Ÿ˜‰ xo

  • If im ever in Springfield. I will have to stop and find you ๐Ÿ™‚
It’ll be fun to see the shop in real life! XO.

  • I love the idea of the iPad! It is almost like they just took the screen portion of the aluminum macbooks and chopped it off. When reading and posting blogs, it will feel more like you are reading or writing in a magazine or notebook I seems. I think it will be less cumbersome when you are just wanting to be cozy while getting some reading done as well.

I also really love the idea that I could just get this instead of a Nook or Kindle since the Barnes and Noble e-reader app and the Kindle app will be available on it.

When I go out of town I don’t usually love the idea of taking my macbook along on a plane just incase something were to happen to it. I would feel much better taking the iPad that is less than 1/3 the cost of a new laptop. If you get a case for it that makes it stand up it could almost be a laptop replacement.

  • Thanks for visiting my blog yesterday. I was over the moon excited to see you’d left a comment!

The last post you wrote inspired me to make the most out of my blog. I’m going to try a bit harder to keep it fresh.

    Suki is so cute btw!

    Big Thanks XxX

  • My dh is one for anything apple so he is totally in love with the ipad. He is a little upset about them not putting in a camera also.

I hope I will be visiting you this spring or summer. I want my dh and I to take a little motorcycle ride to Springfield. I can’t wait to meet you!!

your nails are fab! cute cute idea for Valentines day.

  • my friend sent me a text letting me know i was on the blog ๐Ÿ™‚ so silly…anyway, it was so fun to meet you and see rva! thanks for all the inspiration! oh…and funtiques was amazing! ๐Ÿ™‚

  • I’m interested in seeing how different the iPad is than the iPhone or iTouch. I’m in education, and I wouldn’t recommend it for schools because you can’t really DO anything with it. Getting kids laptops allows them to create and become producers of information. Right now, the iPad seems like a glorified Kindle or oversized iTouch. However, personally, I’m interested because God forbid I not get a piece of the latest technology!

  • i was considering getting an iPad myself.. and do slightly feel like a nerd because i’ve read TONS about it.. but, oh well. i think it would be something really interesting because i adore the touch screen of the iphone/ipod touch but do not have an iphone or ipod touch because i could never abandon my classic ipod. and, i’ve wanted a macbook for a really long time.. but it is quite out of my price range. the ipad is more of what i want for the price. i’ll save the macbook for later in life.

ohh, and i adore suki. she is adorable.

  • I am really excited about the Ipad…being in Australia I have to wait a little longer to get one.

I love gadgets and I think the Ipad is a great idea. It’s not for everybody, but for me, my iphone is full of apps, taking up room, that I can move to the ipad and use for home. I like the idea of building the pad how I want it to be…sometimes there is too much stuff on a pc I just don’t need.

  • I am super excited about the ipad. I think for creative types it is gonna be great. Brushes for ipad looks amazing and they only had two weeks to work on it. There are flaws, No USB, No Camera… but the keyboard dock really has me excited! seriously it would go everywhere with me. I cannot wait for launch day!

  • At first I didn’t want an iPad. But now I do! The more I thought about great apps I enjoy on iPhone like QuickOffice and BlogPress, the more I wanted an iPad.

The Camera Connector is a must-have accessory. You can plug in a USB cable or an SD card into it. I don’t care that it doesn’t have a camera, because I would always shoot photos with my “serious” camera anyway.
