I have been wanting to try this recipe for some time. I saw these on The Baking Robot's blog. She has lots of really fun and whimsical creations, like cotton candy jelly and Twizzlers ice cream. I just love these gummy bear thumb print cookies so I had to give them a try.I am happy to report that these are super fun and easy to make. They are also delicious! They sort of taste like a pop tartโkind of pie crust + fruity. If that makes sense. These would be a lot of fun to make with kids. I think my niece would just LOVE making and eating these.Gummy Bear Thumbprint Cookies, makes 20. Slightly adapted from The Baking Robot.
1/2 cup butter, softened
1/4 cup brown sugar
1 egg yolk
1/2 teaspoon vanilla extract
1 cup flour
1/8 teaspoon salt
10 gummy bears (plus more for snacking)
Cream together the butter and sugar. Stir in the egg yolk and extract. Then stir in the flour and salt until well-combined and crumbly. Cover and place the dough in the freezer for ten minutes.Shape the dough in to twenty small balls. Place them on a baking sheet covered with parchment paper. Use your thumb to press a swallow bowl into each cookie. Or, if you're totally cliche like me, create indented heart shapes in each.
Bake at 350ยฐF for 8-9 minutes. While these bake cut the gummy bears into four pieces each. You'll need two pieces (half a gummy bear) per cookie. Once these are partially baked, place the gummy bear bits in the hearts. Bake for another two minutes. If some of your cookies crack, or the gummy bears aren't place in the centers, they may overflow on a few of the cookies. But that's kind of pretty, if you ask me. I sometimes added a few different colored pieces to one cookie, to create a two toned heart. Have fun with these! They are as much fun to bake as they are to eat. Enjoy. xo. Emma

SO CUTE (& easy)! thank you!
I need to say this: I miss the old articles about sister style and all the tips about hair/makeup/style ideas. There’s a huge amount of food post right now, mixed with DIY and I kinda miss the old vibe, where you girls went through a lot of topics every week, it was more fun to read ๐ Right now it seems we have just 2 topics: DIY and food. I don’t want to criticize the food post, but there’s plenty out there of good food blogs, and I prefer to read so lot about food somewhere else. Just a suggestion from an old old ooold fan ๐ all the best!
how adorable. my lil sis would love these.
These look adorable! Definitely adding them to the baking list.
Oh my gosh, TRYING THIS!

I think I felt the same way. But they turned out tastier than I thought. ๐ Nice surprise. You could totally use jam instead of gummies if you like.

Gummy bears are my favorite candy!! Love this recipe ๐
please check out my blog! http://carolinemoira.wordpress.com/
There’s not a lot of sweetness to them
My gummy bears have been dead. ๐ They have boiled, so I put into another bear victims. Now I have grotesque coloured cookies but it’s delicious. ๐
Love from Hungary ๐
Tried it today with my 4 year old – it was a hit with the whole family. Made them gluten and dairy free and they turned out delicious! Thank you!
I made these last night with my son for his kindergarten class. So fun! However, there is a typo in your recipe. It reads to bake the cookies at 305 degrees (which i thought was odd but did), The Baking Robot’s says 350 (i see that now). OUr cookies were under done and a little crumbly as a result of the lower baking temp. SO fun though and very cute. Cheers*
I baked them at 305, but when they didn’t bake, I checked the original recipe, which is 350. Eventually, they were delicious.
I made this recipe and I don’t know where I went wrong but the batter turned out wrong. It was so thin even after putting it in the freezer for ten minutes that you could not roll it in balls. And when I tried to cook it anyway by the spoon full then it just turned into very thin piled of what looked like thin pancakes.
I tried the batter again because I relized that I put a whole egg in the batter instead of just the yolk. But this time around I misread the recipe again and only put the egg white in instead of the yolk. I guess I will be trying it for the third time and hopefully this time I will be more careful of reading the direction and get it right.
