i finished my bag two nights ago while having a (quite long) phone conversation with Leigh-Ann. it was lots of fun to stitch, but my fingers were a little sore when i was done. π i think i love stitching with yarn even more than traditional embroidery… more experimenting to do! & maybe even mixing the two? yes. i'll be carrying this bag for a long time, i love it so much!
here's a detail shot…
the design was inspired by the always classy Orla Kiely.
i'll post more later, but i couldn't wait to share these photos!
hope your day is lovely!!! π elsie

The bag turned out awesome, Elsie!!! I’m going to have to try the yarn! You need to take shots with the bag and something else to show the size. It’s a good sized bag, lol! (probably why your fingers are hurting!!!)

Hi Heather π
That’s so sweet of you, you made me blush! But Freckled Nest keeps me so busy, I wouldn’t make a very good RVA girl π I’m happy to just be friends with the girls, support them and help out from time to time π
Hugs,

was wondering what the inside of the bag looked like. do you just knot the yarn and leave it or tape over it, or what?
That bag is adorable!

I totally stole your idea and stitched onto my new vintage carry on. We’re going to Scandinavia next week and my bag needed some cut-i-fication before we leave! Take a look if you want…

Do not get your girls wear a plain white bridesmaid dress on stage in order to avoid distracting.

where can i find a bag simple like that one?
what size emboidery needle did you use? I’ve been wanting to do some stitching on a pair of boots I have.
LOVE! I have an old carry on bag just like that.. I’ll have to try this!
What kind of needle do you need to use for this???
Love this and would really like to try it out myself. But I’m thinking, will the holes from the stitching cause the bag to leak? I live in the Netherlands – it rains a lot here! π
NAUGA! A dying breed, or at least an endangered species. (He he…I have a very similar bag.)
May I ask where you found the bag? Its so cool, and absolutely fab with the stitching.
I’m in love with this! And I have a similar bad, same type of (faux) leather, I’m a vegan so I avoid the real thing. I would love to stitch a little heart pattern.
I’m curious, what size needle did you use for this endeavor? Any other supplies specifics or tips for getting started?
-Kate
Use some ribbon and mix it up with yarn and thread! Love your design, so simple, but that’s the beauty of it! π
So fun article is! I know more from it.
