Hanging Plant Shelf DIY Hi, there! Today I’m excited to share a quick, easy project that significantly increased the cozy factor in my living room this week!!

After I hung this b-a-n-a-n-a-s macrame (custom made from The Northern Needle on Etsy) above our record console, it felt like it still needed a little something. My first impulse was to hang a plant, like on the wall. But since I didn’t want to put any more holes in our shiplap and I already have quite a few wall planters throughout our home, I decided to branch out a bit and try another version of a hanging planter.

I’ve seen hanging shelves around and love the versatility they offer. So I decided to give it a try! I tag teamed this project with Collin. And we were both shocked by how simple and quick this project was to create. It only took a couple hours to complete!

Supplies NeededSupplies: 
-any round wooden plate or saucer. (ours was originally some sort of wall plaque!)
-2 pieces of thin rope (ours are 5 feet long each, but customize for your space)
-staple gun

Start by cutting your 2 pieces of rope. Next tie all of the cut ends together into a knot. Then grab your wooden plate or saucer and flip it upside down. Lay your rope down making an X with the knot in the middle. Next get your staple gun and staple all 4 pieces of rope to the bottom of the wood disk. Then flip it right side up and grab your 4 pieces of rope. Tie them all into a knot, leaving a little loop at the top to hang on your hook.

We added a tassel to the bottom, just a quick one made with yarn. And that’s it!

Hanging Plant Shelf DIYBefore you commit to your length, hang the shelf and make sure you like it. It’s easier to change the length before you staple!

Hanging Plant Shelf DIY I love the simple, cozy vibe of this project. It’s not fussy and it’s really versatile. You could easily swap out the colors or add metallic finishes or add more embellishment to make it fit your style!

Hanging Plant Shelf DIY Just last week I was complaining about how unfinished this room still is. But after a little planning, a little inspiration and this project, I’m feeling really excited about the direction it is taking! I’ve said this before, but some rooms come together quickly and some rooms come together slowly. For me, this is my slow room. But since it’s the room we hang out in the most, it’s a huge priority.
