Serving punch bowls is my number one time-saving tip for holiday parties! I LOVE mixing custom cocktails for each guests and do so at all of my smaller parties. But when you have more guests OR are serving food, it's nice to have drinks that serve themselves like punch and a couple bottles of wine.
When I make punch I like to serve a variety. It's nice because guests who prefer one spirit or flavor over other have options and guests who love to try new things have a variety to choose from! For Friendsgiving I made three punch bowls, one with champagne, one with whiskey and one with a mixture of whiskey and beer. I used cardboard scrapbooking stickers to label each container. Here are my recipes:Apple Cider Punch, makes one bowl
1 gallon apple cider
four cups orange juice
2 liters of gingerale
1/2 cup lemon juice
1 bottle whiskey (I used Jack Daniels Tennessee Honey)
apple slices
orange slices
fresh mint leaves
In a punch bowl mix chilled cider, chilled orange juice, chilled gingerale, lemon juice and whiskey. Garnish with fresh orange slices, apples slices and fresh mint leaves. Do not add ice to the punch, but do have an ice bucket available for your guests! EnjoyCitrus Champagne Punch, makes one bowl
1 bottle orange vodka
1 bottle champagne
1/2 cup lemon juice
2 cups grapefruit juice
2 liters lemon lime soda
2 lemons
2 limes
1 grapefruit
In a punch bowl mix chilled vodka, chilled champage, 1/2 cup lemon juice, chilled grapefruit juice and chilled soda. Wash citrus fruit well, slice and add all the slices to the punch bowl. For the cranberry punch I tried this Red Nose Punch recipe via Saveur. It was tasty. I highly recommend it!
So… who's in the mood for punch now? xo. Elsie
P.S. We stored the punch on top of the piano after all our guests were served. And anyone going for seconds was extra careful. Happy to report to spills or stains. π

Love the idea! Hopefully your piano stayed nice and clean during the party… The pumpkins looks so chic painted over.
You didn’t actually serve the punch from the top of the piano did you? Good photo op, but not practical
fabulous, delicious, festive idea!
xx
wow…this looks amazing. The total setup is so good.
Weren’t you even a little worried that you would dribble punch all over the piano? That is a really quick way to ruin it. Especially with the punch being so high up
Cuuuuuute idea! Did you just use stickers on the jars?

love the setup.

Where are those punchbowls from? They’re super cute!
Hi Alyssa,
Yes I did! I see your point (and I thought about that, of course) but I didn’t think it would be an issue and it wasn’t. π
Thanks! elsie
Hi Elsie! Great idea. I want to try the apple punch for Thanksgiving. How big was the bottle of whiskey you used? I know they come in different sizes…
Thanks!
I love your “turkey time” apron! Did you make it yourself?
Hi Becky!
It’s 750ml (it’s the smaller of the two standard sizes you normally see in stores).
enjoy!!!
Thanks for the recipes! I will try them soon I think. We hope to celebrate Christmas with friends, first with our families and later on with friends (we don’t have Thanksgiving)
XOXO
Nancy
Hi Whitney!
Yes, I did. It’s just fabric paint and my own handwriting. I wrote the words on the apron with pencil and then used a small brush to fill them in with fabric paint. 30 minute project!

Oh man, my first thought was “No! The piano!” Glad to hear it survived. π

Did you mean ‘happy to report “no” spills or stains?’ Or that anyone going for seconds wasn’t shy about reporting a spill/stain? If it was the later, did the stains wipe off the white piano easily?
Hi Kris,
there were no spills. we were careful. π

Champagne AND vodka?!?!? Citrus for the win!!!!!
What a fabulous idea!!!
Very classy indeed!

I love this idea, perfect for the holidays!
Where did you get your punch bowl from?
I love the variety of punch for any party
This infuriates me. As a music educator, I stress the importance of NOT putting food or drinks on the music wing pianos and other instruments every day. This sets a very poor example of how to treat an instrument for the young people who read your blog. It would be one thing if it was a hollowed out or repurposed piano, but it’s not. It’s still a functional instrument that you painted and stickler tape too for photo ops. What a disrespectful way to treat an instrument and your husband’s art. Shameful.
How you ladies manage to make ordinary things seem fresh and fun is beyond me! Very lovely!
for the love of god, hire a proofreader. every single post you make has errors in them. it’s embarrassing.
Citrus champagne punch sounds so delicious! I love this idea if you’re having many people over.
Where did you far your pinch bowls from??
Ahh, where are the punch bowls from? So cute!
Love them!

Everyone seems so concerned about your piano… But, it’s yours and I’m sure you thought of that, and made that decision for yourself! It looks lovely and the punches sound delish. I never thought of serving punch this time of year! Thanks for the great idea π And your apron is so simple and cute!
When I first saw them on top of the piano I was like, “man she’s brave,” but then I read your comment and that makes more sense. π
Why did you have the paintings on the top of the piano turned around?
Inquiring minds and all…
Paint, stickers, pumpkins, punch… poor piano π
I’ve found a really great way to protect my piano when I put things on top of it: a food runner! I’m not sure if you guys call them that over there too but it’s just a sturdy fabric that’s normally used down the middle of a long dining table to put the food on whilst protecting the table. It just gives another barrier between your food/drinks and the surface. And you can get quite pretty ones these days =)
What size bottle of orange vodka did you use in the citrus punch? Thanks!
It all looks so super cute!!
But.. when I see those bowls on the piano I cringe π
Images of punch destroying the piano are rushing through my head.
Is it just a decorative piano or is it still playable? In the latter case, please don’t ever do that again π
Good idea, looks great, I want to drink now
I’m confused by the last sentence. I hope there were no spills. I really like how you painted it.
Thanks for the idea! I’ll be doing this at my Christmas Ladies Night Out.
I love your punch bowls and would love to know where you got them!
Gorgeous!! You ladies are the ultimate hosts π
