If you had to pick one flavor for like, forever what would it be? You know, like you're trapped on a desert island, and you can only grow one herb or have one case of a certain flavoring. It could be something fruity like: strawberry, coconut, blueberry, raspberry, rhubarb or mango. But no matter how much you love coconut I feel like at some point that might get old. For me, I'm leaning toward either lemon or chocolate. Two completely incompatible flavors I just adore.Wait, why am I talking about desert islands? Hmm… I don't know. I think you just have to be prepared for stuff in life. But let's talk about pop tarts. Homemade pop tarts, to be specific. All the pop tarts you see here are filled with all kinds of delicious flavors. And the fun part? I didn't "make" any of them, they are just things found in my refrigerator or pantry! I made six different flavors including: blueberry preserves, strawberry jam, peanut butter and (grape) jelly, lemon curd, honey nut cream cheese and Nutella. Each pop tart needed a heaping spoonful of whatever flavor you choose. I used puff pastry to make these pop tarts. The brand I used came in two sheets. I layed out the first sheet and spooned on the fillings, then covered them with the second puff pastry sheet. Cut into pop tarts. I cut the edges with a ravioli cutter, you could get a similar effect using the prongs of a fork. Brush on a little egg wash and bake at 375Β°F for 18-22 minutes. Until golden and puffy.Like this. πNow let's make some flavored glazes! Here's a basic glaze recipe you can customize easily:
1 cup powdered sugar
2 tablespoons milk
Use a fork to whisk the ingredients together. If you want a thicker glaze add another 1/2 cup powered sugar. For vanilla glaze stir in 1/4 teaspoon vanilla extract. For a fruit glaze stir in 1 tablespoon jam or jelly. For a lemon glaze stir in 1 tablespoon lemon curd. And for the chocolate glaze simply stir in 1 tablespoon cocoa powder.Drizzle the glaze over the still warm pop tarts. Try not to mix up the flavors. π Serve immediately. Enjoy! xo. Emma

Brilliant—these are actually a little more like Toaster Strudels, which I loved way more than pop tarts! My desert island flavor would be a tart apricot!

I’m not really into pop tarts as they’re so hard but I think these with filo pastry would be great and so many different filling possibilities without much effort, I’ll definitely be making some

My boyfriend just brught me “smores” poptards from his vacation in the US. They taste very good, but I can’t eat more than one at a time. Pop Tards are rarely available in Germany, so thanks for sharing the recipe to make them at home! Is it possible to store them?

Nice. I make homemade pop tarts occasionally, but I always use homemade pie dough, not puff pastry. Great ideas for fillings!
Oh my these look so savory! Your food styling is so lovely as well.

These look totally amazing. Have you tried this with homemade puff pastry? I would really like to make my own but I don’t know if it would be worth the time to make it. What do you think?

More strudel than poptart, since you used puff pastry. Poptart dough is more like a pie crust. And lemon & chocolate are NOT incompatible flavors. Have you ever had a lemon curd tart with chocolate ganache? If not, you’re missing out.
Ummmm….YUMMMMMMMM! So totally making these! Thanks for sharing!!

That looks so good π
These are definitely more like toaster strudel which I adore. Back in the day, when pop tarts first came out, they were really good, now they’re awful. My kids wouldn’t even eat them. But I bet my grandkids will love these.
I’ve always wanted to make my own “healthier” pop-tarts! Great idea, and I love the colors. I think want to go all-out and make my own version of puff pastry too… -Marie Vlasic theyearoflivingfabulously.com
Looks so tasty. I actually miss Pop Tarts – in Germany you can only order them and they are sold for horrendous prices.
I just love the cinnamon Pop Tarts, but yours sound just yummy!!! I have fluffy pastry at home and now I know for sure what to make very soon.
Thank you, Nicole
yep! this one will be tried very soon. I love the glaze colors!

These are *so* ridiculously cute! I’m definitely *definitely* going to try making my own Nutella pop tarts. What a fun idea!
Nom nom nom nom. Nom nom nom. Nom nom nom nom. Nom.
Mine are never this flaky when I use store-bought puff pastry! Did you roll out the dough any before cutting it or just leave it as is? What brand did you use?
These look more like Toaster Strudels rather than Pop Tarts, but probably way more delicious!

These are soooo purty!!! I don’t even like pop tarts to be honest, but I think I’d like these for sure. And if I were on a desert island I’d pick lemon flavored food and treats hands down, no questions asked.
