Homemade Sweet Potato Chips

How to make potato chipsDid you know that potato chips are really easy to make at home? It's true. I'd say they are even easier than homemade french fries, which I also love. Really, anything starchy has my heart. I hadn't made potato chips in a long time. And as I was looking around a health food store that just opened near my home, I saw they had a large selection of different varieties of sweet potatoes. Best sweet potato chipsI love sweet potato fries, sweet potato hash browns and sweet potato pie. So I figured I'd give sweet potato chips a try. I bought three different types of sweet potatoes. You can see them here, (the photo below) but I didn't write down their names before I left the store. πŸ™ Guess I'll just have to go back soon. Sweet potato varietiesPeel and clean the potatoes. For best results use a Mandoline to slice the potatoes very thin. Allow them to soak in cold water for 10 minutes. Then remove and pat dry with paper towels.How to make potato chips at homeFry in oil heated to around 375Β°F for a few minutes. Remove to a plate lined with paper towels and immediately sprinkle on a little sea salt and black pepper. Before serving sprinkle on a few chopped, fresh herbs. I used parsley here, but basil, rosemary or thyme would be fantastic too.Homemade potato chipsThese are best served warm the day they are made. Serve them along side hamburgers and hot dogs at your next BBQ. Uh… yum! Enjoy these. xo. Emma
