Sometimes you want to have a short hair day, but without the commitment of actually getting your hair cut! Here's a fun and cute way to style your long locks into a short bob do. Enjoy!
1. Divide your hair into two sections, from one ear to another. 2. Pin up the top section, just to keep it out of the way. 3. Pull the bottom section into a ponytail. 4. Twist the pony tail into a small bun and pin flat against your head. 5. Now unpin the top section, begin dividing it into small strands. 6. Fold the strands in half and pin them up underneath, try your best to hide the bobby pins! 7. Once you've pinned all the strands, carefully use a curling iron to flip the strands out just a little. This will make them look more natural. 8. Add any accessories or pin any loose pieces and you're done!
Thanks so much Katie! Happy short hair days! xo. Elsie and Emma

Very cool idea… and so pretty!
This is brilliant. One more reason to grow my hair out–I can have it short anytime I want with this “do”. I would’ve never thought about curling the ends to make it look more natural.
This is so cute!

I did a short flapper style one year for halloween, and it took me hours to get my long hair to look short, but this actually looks relatively simple!
Very neat! :o)
looks so cute
So cute! I’m definitely going to try this. 🙂
That is absolutely the cutest hair idea ever!
Love and Turtledoves,

What a great way to spruce up long hair!
Thanks for the idea ladies <3
This is absolutely adorable. I always want my hair to be short, but I know I’d be sad if I cut it off. Great idea!
Gosh, this is much fancier than how I would normally be able to manage it. Lovely.
Hey i LOVE this hairstyling! I tryed on myself, it didn’t turn out as good as yours but practice makes perfect! Hey i am a beginner photographer and i would like to know if i am on my way! Check out my blog and let me know!

nice.. i like it.. will try it.. 🙂 http://lovesimplegreen.blogspot.com
Thanks for sharing this tutorial. This is a beautiful style and I might try it this weekend.
I thought she cut her hair short at first, lol!
This looks so pretty, Katie! I love how volumized it looks at the top – so gorgeous! And thank you for your comment, Elsie! It seriously made my day! x
This is SUCH a cute idea I decided to try fir myself, and this seems very simple before you actually try. And does not work for my layers or at all, I tryed about five times and then tried mixing up a few steps and could not do it! I’d really like to look like I have short hair for just a day but this does not work for me! I’ll have to see if a friend can do it, but I doubt that. So for everyone with layers I’m saving you the frustration right now.
Great idea!!
ughh and I love the color of her hair!!
Gorgeous!
Genius! This definitely solve my “should I cut it short again dilemma” I’ve been having!
Very cute! I know just who I want to share this with. My hair is just about that short normally. 😀
XOXO
so cute! i need to try this!

Super cute – I unfortunately doubt that it would work with hair as long as mine, though 🙁
such a cute idea! too bad my hair is already much shorter than this, but i will definitely know how to help my long-haired friends style their hair in a very fun way! and, thank you for visiting my blog! it was a pleasant surprise for my day!

What a fantastic idea! I love how the twists give that vintage, curls at the bottom look. Thanks for sharing, def on my to-try list! : )
Kelsey- it’s actually even easier if you have long hair with layers because you pin the bottom into a bun and let the top layers hang down. There is very little pinning involved. 🙂
Love it! I have super long hair.. May try this this weekend!!
xoxo
Check out my updates!

Genius! When I was in college I used to do my long hair in these little twists on the side of my head that made it look like I’d had a major cut. It’s always fun to fool your pals! 🙂
I love this!

Oh it is so cute! love the idea!

Love this! Now, if only you could come up with a way to make long thin hair look longer and thicker! (without extensions of course) 🙂
Oh this is so wonderful! I’m so excited about trying it tomorrow! Thanks so much for this super cute tutorial 🙂
Wow, that look is too cute! Your friend has such pretty hair! I should try this out soon, thanks for the tutorial!

I love this! Every winter, I get the urge to cut my curly hair into a little bob, because between wind, scarves, and hats, my usual fairy-princess hair seems like a major pain in the neck. I think this will keep me from making that trip to the salon!
(psssst… I’m having a giveaway over on my blog! it’s at http://www.JulieRoseSews.com)

the hairstyle is so nice! is this your natural hair color?
I will have to give this a try! I always go back and forth between long hair/short hair. It’ll be nice if I can get the short hair without cutting all my hair!

Neat! I wish I can do something like that but my hair is just too flat and little.
LOVE!! I have been wanting to dye my hair red, and LOVE your color – there are so many different versions of red, but I really want something natural looking, like yours. What “red” is that?
This is the best idea ever! Really really pretty!
Oh my, so very pretty !
I’ve tried this before but was no way near as successful! Will definitely have a go again at some point. I didn’t pin the bottom section when I tried it, so maybe that’s the secret.
Thanks for another great hair tutorial!
– Lois x
what is her hair color?! my friend is looking to dye her hair and would love to know the color she uses haha thanks!
I really love your hair styling pages. I do have a question about my own hair. I am in my late 40’s, still like messing with my hair, and have straight (no curl at all), fine hair-one length-to my waist. I don’t want to cut any part of my hair and was wondering if you would have any further suggestions on how to make-up my hair?
It would be helpful to make videos of things like this I think. I find blog posts a little hard to follow sometimes. Just an idea if you are looking to expand onto you tube or something…
So cute!
Oh my. I love this. And I love her red hair. Nice work.
tried it this morning and am so pleased with the result! so clever 🙂
going to try this for sure! 🙂 xo
So cute wow….
This is so adorable! I have super long hair and would love to try being a “short-haired gal” for a day! Thank you!
