Our pal, Laura, always has the most amazing giant waves in her hair. I wanted to learn her method, and I had a feeling our blog readers would like it too. (right? right!) So without further ado, here's Laura's styling technique for mega beachy waves!First, pull your hair into 2-3 sections. Start with the bottom section. Wrap small sections of hair around your curling iron starting at the root, pulling it tight and holding each strand on the iron for five seconds. Work your way up through each layer, finishing with the bangs. Run your fingers through the curls, loosening them a little. Tease your roots around the crown of your head. Be sure to tease layers under the top layer, so all of the fuzziness is hidden underneath layers. Spray a little spray wax on your fingers and use it to define the ends of your hair. Spray with a finishing spray and enjoy your big beachy waves all day long!
The spray wax Laura uses is Sexy Hair Short Sexy Hair Play Dirty Texturizing Hair Spray. Now I'm off to try it on my own hair! And be sure to check out Laura's brand new blog, The Band Wife. xo. Elsie

I can never get my hair to that ‘wavy’ state with a curling iron. It always goes right to Shirley Temple style curls π I’ll have to try out her method and see if that helps!
Lauren @ in between idols.
love the loose waves. so pretty.
LOVE her blog! So glad to see her face (and amazing hair) here! Hope y’all are having an amazing Monday!

The curls stay better if you wrap them the reverse way around foam curlers and brush them out with your fingers :D. Requires barely any hairspray! I get compliments all the time, plus it gives you bigger hair.β₯
I love my pixie cut, but these tutorials make me wish I had long hair!! Beautiful π

Hi Ladies – love the hair styling posts but here’s a challenge/suggestion for your next one: like several people out there I have severe allergies. This includes allergies to all fragrances. As a result I use unscented soaps, shampoos, cleaning products, etc. Also as a result I have had a very difficult time finding any sort of styling product (i.e.: mouse, hair spray, heat protector for using a curling iron, etc). I usually just pull my fine hair back in frustration and feel like I’m always a mess! Can you help find products or come up with tips for those of us who can’t use traditional products on the market?
Love this style..

Hi, can you tell me whether that is a 1 1/2″ or 2″ barrel?
What size is your curling iron? I think I have one that size, I would really like to get loose waves like these, but, as one of the readers said above, mine always turn Shirley Temple like too!
I’m buying a big curling wand soon! Hopefully it will make my hair look like this! Right no I have a small clamp curling iron.

Great tutorial, I am always trying to get the perfect curl so will definitely be giving this a go!
so gorgeous! whenever i wrap my hair around the barrel i seem to always burn my hand, but will give it another try π
I did this today, yay! But I would definitely suggest not washing your hair before hand OR using a really good style prep, like, Aveda pure abundance style-prep!
(I would post a link to my blog but it’s a sex blog and doesn’t quite fit in among the rest of the blogs posted!)
Is her shirt from forever21? I have the same one π
