Jewelry Box Restyle

Jewelry box 1As I've been working on my 2012 craft challenge I've been looking around my home and closet and trying to identify items that I'm missing. I hang all my earrings on this wicker wall hanging I have, but I didn't really have a place for my rings, necklaces or post earrings. So I decided to restyle a thrifted jewelry box!

Jewelry box beforeHere you can see the "before" jewelry box. I liked the shape but the rose design didn't necessarily fit my room's aesthetic. There was also a sticky spot on the top interior, so I knew I wanted to cover that somehow.
Jewelry box 2First I painted the entire box off-white, I had to paint on three coats before the wood was totally covered. Then I stamped on little gold and tan polka dots. Last I added similar color fringe to the interior (covering that sticky spot) using tissue paper and craft glue. Due to all the base coats of paint, this ended up being a two-day project. But it was super fun and I'm really excited to have a jewelry box that perfectly fits in with my bedroom decor! xo. emma
