I L-O-V-E pizza. It's one of my favorite foods in the whole world. Me and pizza go way back and I've been making this pizza dough for, like, ever. It reminds me of the pizza place in my grandparent's little hometown (Hip Pocket Pizza!!!). It's not really thick crust and it's not thin either. It's a great hand-tossed version.Emma's Favorite Pizza Dough, makes one 14 inch pizza.
Needed: 3/4 cup warm water, 3/4 teaspoon instant dry yeast, 1/2 teaspoon sugar, 1 1/2 cup flour, 1/8 teaspoon baking soda, 1/8 teaspoon baking powder, 1/2 teaspoon salt and 2 tablespoons olive oil.
In a small bowl combine the water, yeast and sugar. Stir to dissolve, set aside. In another bowl combine the flour, baking soda, baking powder and salt. Stir in the yeast water and the olive oil. Knead for a couple minutes until dough is well combined and somewhat elastic. Lay in a lightly oiled bowl, cover and allow to rise for 2 hours.Punch dough down (get angry!) and turn out onto a lightly floured surface. Roll out. Try to make a decent little circle, I never really achieve this though. π Bake at 375 F for 5-6 minutes then cover with sauce cheese and favorite toppings. Finish baking for another 10-12 minutes.
Do you have a favorite pizza dough recipe? We'd love to hear it. Happy baking. xo. Emma

Have you ever attempted to freeze the dough after it has risen and been punched? If so how did it turn out?

We love pizza here too. I’m always making pizza dough and freezing some for when we’re craving pizza. The possibilities are endless too: We love arugula and spinach, bratwurst and the everything pizza (anything we can find in the fridge!).
Thanks for the recipe! It looks really good. I love pizza, and homemade is the best! I always have dough from the book Artisan Bread in Five Minutes a Day ready in my fridge, so when I want pizza I just use that. It’s really easy and tastes amazing. I also highly recommend a pizza stone. The crust comes out so much better when I use one. I’ll have to try your recipe next time.
Making homeade pizza dough sounds a lot more complicated than it actually is. I’ve made it a few times and it’s super easy and good to make in bulk so you can freeze.

My favorite is the Pioneer Woman recipe. it doesn’t have to rise and it tastes good. I like to pre-bake it for about 5 minutes, so the bottom gets a little more crispy.
This looks awesome! I love pizza, and making my own dough! I’ll have to try this recipe out π

I usually use the whole wheat recipe that comes with the kitchen aid mixer, ya know to have a healthly pizza. I also really like that one you tried on your old blog for use in a cast iron skillet. I like putting cheese in the thick crust, not so healthly.
it’s look yummy.. π

My pizza dough recipe is very simple! 1 cup of self raising flour and 1 cup of natural yogurt and some extra flour for dusting on your board when kneading it. This makes one large pizza. Too easy!
Thank you SO much for this! I’ve been looking for a good recipe for weeks and this one is so simple! π
YUM! Check out my blog: http://thechicstreetblog.blogspot.com/
pizza is my greatest weakness! i just can’t resist it!

These kitchen basics are so simple and helpful. I was just thinking today that I needed a good pizza dough recipe. I love making quickly pizzas using pesto as the sauce and mozzarella on top.
Holy moley!
Yum Emma, this looks fantastic! I live two doors away from this gourmet pizza joint and I can almost smell the dough baking now! Foodgasms all over the desk.

Girl…I am SO with you..I literally could eat pizza every single day and never get sick of it. The best part about making your own dough is that you can put on it anything…and amount, any seasoning, anything!! I love to make calzones too! Thanks for sharing your dough…hopefully soon I will post mine, it is quite similar but I love the thin, crunchy crust as well as the thicker one. Happy Eating:)

I love pizza, too. We rarely make our own dough, because there’s such a great organic version of ready made dough available around here. I’ve tried several recipes for homemade dough, but none of them was what I was looking for.
Maybe I’ll try yours soon!

Can’t wait to HULK SMASH this pizza dough. π
i grew up eating my mom’s homemade pizza dough. it was my fave until a few years back, when i bought rose levy beranbaum’s the bread bible (sorry, mom!). it’s super easy, super fast and the perfect size for one or two people. i usually make two recipes, adding about a teaspoon of italian herb blend to the dry ingredients. one recipe makes a pizza and the other gets a focaccia treatment. let it rise a little more than usual and make dimples with your fingertips; drizzle olive oil and finish with coarse sea salt. YUM.

I will definitely try this one soon! Love pizza and always trying to find simple recipes to do it at home, and this looks great, so thanks! Just one question… Why is it that you use 1/8 teaspoon baking soda and 1/8 teaspoon baking powder, and not just baking powder? Have you tried this already? Because when looking for it I found baking powder is the same as baking soda, only with an acidic content already present and suits better those recipes where you do not add any acidic ingredient such as lemon juice or tartar. However here we do not have an acidic ingredient in the list, so… probably no problem using only baking powder? I will try and will let you know π xo Joana
mmmmm, Emma it looks so good !

Make pizza dough with spelt! So good!

one of my favorite recipe is grilled pizza with broccoli+lard!
take 400gr of flour + yeast (smooth in a small cup of warm water) + 1 tbsp of salt + 1tbsp sugar + 2ts olive oil. the dough need to be elastic , but a little bit sticky too! after 2 hours, punch dough down and turn out onto a lightly floured surface. Divide in 6 small balls-Roll out
and then, brush each side with some olive oil- and it’s ready! grill it! (when you’re cooking the second side-put your toppings on!- i love broccoli(cooked with garlic and chili flakes)+ lard or ricotta+ham+ zucchini or ricotta+ham+figs or rocket+marinated peppers+goat’s cheese π try it, i think you’re gonna love it!

It was only this week that my wife and I were eating a very thin crusted pizza in a restaurant in Barnstaple North Devon England, it was excellent and we discussed how the crust was made, your recipes looked just the thing and I intend trying it later this week.
Will post a comment to let you know how I got on.
Thank you

Thanks so much for sharing! I saw this post last night, got the ingredients I didn’t already have, and had it for dinner tonight with my family. It was a big hit! Definitely making this again! <3
I am a mess when it comes to pizza dough. No matter what, I’m never able to get the center part of the dough cooked as well as the rest. It’s always soft and hard to handle. Any advice on how to fix this?
Oh Yummy!!!
Thanks for the recipe!
I LOVE PIZZA!
