I love Valentine's Day! In the spirit of all things lovey-dovey I got inspired to make a fun piece of art for our bedroom… using lipstick! I have been pinning lipstick prints (on my valentine board) like crazy for the past few weeks. I love the simple visual statment that kiss prints can make. So pretty, feminine and personal.First, cut a piece of white cardstock slightly larger than your frame or matte size. Go to town with lipstick + kisses! This step is slightly embarassing, but also really fun.These are all the lipsticks I used, a few of my favorites!Next, just frame your kiss print and personalize it with a note on the back. There you have it… instant, personal artwork for your bedroom!What do you think? Is this something you would enjoy in your home? What are your Valentine's plans? What a fantastic and simple idea. I might trying making cards like this, although I am not sure if I have enough bright lipsticks. I guess this is a good excuse to try out some fun bright lippys.

My other lipstick art obsession is this Reiko Kaneko mug with a print that looks like lipstick on the rim: http://www.reikokaneko.co.uk/retail/teaware/lip-tease-mug-gold OBSESSED! I tried to create it with Sharpie on a kissy-print stamp, but the sharpie wasn’t wet enough, so I used regular ink, but baking it didn’t set it like it does the sharpie. I’m still toying with the process, thinking about varnishing over the ink, but what varnish would be food safe…? Haven’t figured it all out yet. Can you post a DIY for the mounted bikes you have on everyday elsie sometime? I have a really narrow hallway so having my bike there is a total pain and mounting it on the wall would be a super solution but not sure how to go about it!
Sarah- we probably will not post a DIY on our bike wall because, while it works well for us, we’re not sure how safe it is (for people with children etc!) There is really no way for us to test that and we just don’t feel comfortable recommending DIY, even though it worked great for us. If it wasn’t properly attached to the studs in the wall it could seriously injure someone…
I would recommend buying a kit (amazon, etsy, ebay etc…) and having a professional install it!

Aw, this is such a cute idea for a loved one. It looks very chic with the thick white matting around the picture. I only have two shades of lipstick – a bold red and a light pink… but two different lipsticks on a print like this would still work, right?

Our Valentine’s Day tradition is pretty silly…we go eat at Waffle House. It sounds real classy, huh? We just think it’s funny to get all dolled up and go eat waffles. 🙂
