I don’t know why, but I always had the impression that making a DIY clock would be really tedious and stressful. Boy was I wrong! This cute, customized photo clock is simple to make in about an hour. Really! It’s that easy. You’re going to love it. The idea was a perfect fit for our collaboration with Canon USA, so we used our MG6320 to print that adorable pug picture.
Supply list: Canon Semi-Gloss Photo Paper Plus, glue, clock kit, nail polish, X-Acto knife
Step 1. Print your favorite front facing photo! Be sure to choose a photo that will look nice when cut into a silhouette and will end up 6-8 inches wide.
Step 2. Once printed, glue your photo onto some foam board that is at least an 1/8-inch thick and use an X-Acto knife to cut out the face.
Step 3. Customize the clock arms with nail polish!
Step 4: Assemble the clock. Cut a small hole in the middle of your pet’s face and follow the instructions to mount your clock kit (you are just inserting your pet’s face where the clock face would usually go). Cut out four small paper dots and glue the dots onto the clock to indicate the noon, three, six, and nine o’clock positions.
All done! Isn’t it the cutest? You can use any photo to create this fun and easy clock. These make great gifts! Do you think you’d enjoy making your own?

I actually bought a clock kit a year ago but never ended up making anything with it. I had this elaborate plan for a cool geo-shaped clock similar to the one listed below but could only think of complicated ways to make it (think wood + a wood burning kit). I don’t know why I never thought about drawing it in Illustrator and just printing it out. GENIUS.
Thanks ladies!!

Unbelievably cute!!! This is a great gift idea for a pet owner. haha!
Michelle, Hey! We didn’t use a sealer and I wouldn’t recommend one unless you are afraid it will get extremely dusty in a certain area. If you do use a sealer, I would recommend a spray sealer from an art store.
XOXO!
I have to do this! What an awesome idea.
I love this project so much. I can’t wait to make it for my sister for her birthday!
This is so awesome! I’m buying all the supplies after work tomorrow!!!

WOW this is such a brilliant idea! No idea where I can buy myself a clock kit but i’m guessing they’re not too expensive? I can’t wait to try it out!
I remember doing this in art class when I was younger but instead of the photo, we made something out of clay and placed the clock there. I had totally forgotten about that until this post. Thanks for sharing.
Haha! So this is what you were up to the other day! Loving the cat face clock and would look purrfect in my craft corner! I’m off to buy some supplies! 🙂

Lovely! Did you know those little clock hand sets also fit through the centre of a CD or DVD? We just printed the photos on labels and then stuck those to the old discs – usually free ones that fall out of newspapers around Christmas time – and they make great personalised frugal gifts. 🙂
This is a great DIY, it looks so cute! But I’ve only one question, where can you buy a clock kit?
Adorable! I may end up with a ridiculous amount of clocks in my flat . . .
I didn’t realise making a personalised clock would be so easy either! I must give this a go now!! Thanks for the brilliant idea ♥
Ahhh so cute!!! I’ll be saving this project to make a clock of my beautiful kitty, so cool x

Where is the best place to get a cheap wall clock kit?
Jen, We bought our kit at Hobby Lobby. Any craft store will have them (in the wood section) or you can look on Amazon. XOXO! Elsie
THIS IS SO CUTE. I liked this so much that i ran to the store and bought a clock kit…I am now the proud owner of a boston terrier and a matching clock <3
Ahhh that’s so adorable! 🙂 Will definitely give them a try.

Such a great idea! I’ve seen the stuff to make a clock at Hobby Lobby but never thought about using a photo to create a base! I love it. I think I may make one for a friend for christmas of her dog! Thank you for the idea!
So cute i love the idea ….thks girls…
This post brought a (happy) tear to my eye. It reminded me of when my sister and I were little, our grandfather would help us make clocks out of old records. We were living in Turkey at the time, so we could to just run to the store to pick up the mechanical portion of the clock, so my sister and I would pillage our house, our grandparents’ house, and of course willing neighbors’ homes (you could run around without supervision) to find old clocks that my sweet grandfather would then dismantle and then attach to the record. We would then decorate the face of the clock how we pleased – there were so many lying around our house and given away as gifts, we must have made at least a dozen! I think that project came to an end once our father discovered we had used one of his beloved albums (might have been a Beatles record – YIKES!) Oh, what fun we would have. I miss him.
Oops typo in my comment – I was trying to say we could NOT just run out to the store to get the mechanical portion of the clock.
You guys are the patron saints of the broke. I LOVE YOU
cat clocks – I’m so trying this today. Where do you get clock kits
Wow! I love it! I did it with a flower skull but it’s difficult to put the clock behind in the right position haha

Where can I find the same pug face ;P
This is fun and I am definitely doing this with my bunny and puppy, however, I can’t keep from loling at “Cut a small hole in the middle of your pet’s face” that could definitely be taken out of context in a bad way!
This is so cute
LOVE this idea! Just finished my version of this project – I used Grumpy Cat’s face! My next task is to make a clock using each of my three dog’s faces 🙂
Hehe so sweet! I think I might try this with my children’s faces for their rooms! Another inspiring idea from ABM 🙂
