Her illustrations look so familiar. I think I had books with her illustrations when I was little or something very similar. Too bad I couldn’t read in english back then hahaha
my other favorite illustrators are Leo Lionni, Beatrix Potter, and E.H. Shephard. I really love the more traditional styles of those last two, and i love Leo Lionni’s whimsical collage-type illustrations.
I’ve admired Mary Blair’s work at Disneyland since I was a little girl. I read your post and thought her work looked familiar, so I googled her. Sure enough, she was responsible for my one of my favorite rides at Disneyland, and my favorite Disney mural (which they covered up in the late 90s)! You inspired me to blog about her as well. Thank you for sharing! 🙂

i saw an amazing mary blair exhibit at the SF Cartoon Art Museum last year or so. There was an Ed Gorey exhibit going on at the same time. so bizarre.
Her illustrations are so adorable ad fun! How could any of us forget her “its a small world” illustrations? she did a ton of golden books too right?

I have always loved Mary Blair. My husband went to Cal Arts with a girl Lorelay Bove. She is considered the new Mary Blair at Disney.
