Now that I own a shop with tons of vintage, I thought I've been getting lots of questions about where we source the goods from. The simple (and truthful!) answer is 'everywhere'. We love shopping and go to every estate sale, antique shop etc. that we can. My absolute favorite place to buy vintage is directly from older women! It's the best because they have cute stories and typically the dresses are in great condition from their own personal collection.
Case in point, this afternoon a cute lady brought in tons of stuff to sell me. There were some gems in there and I was so excited. Best part though… she brought me some photo copied articles about how 60s clothes are back in style (YEA!) and an interview with Jon Hamm (Mad Men). How incredibly adorable!
sorta made my day.

loving the granny with the pink rinse. cute.
But yeah i’d never though of that, that every vintage item of clothing has a story to tell, being able to hear that story must be increble.
I really enjoyed coming into your store today. I will definitely come back (sans husband) so I have some time to peruse more! Having visited it when it was The Style, I really appreciate the new things you have done. It really feels light and airy there now.
That is ADORABLE!
They are the best. My moms mom has a chest full of goodies from the 50-60’s. I keep hoping I can go through it someday. My mom recently gave me some clothes she wore in high school I loved listening to all the stories.
So cute! What a sweet little gift!
aww, such a sweet story!! my grandma always sends me home with vintage goodies &articles she’s saved for me. i don’t have a store, but i’m going to need one at the rate i’m going! =)

love that lavender hair!! I have my grandma’s entire collection of HATS from the 40’s-50’s-60’s! She’s 101 (& yes, she’s still alive!)

oh! the pic of jon hamm is such a poor photocopy! that is the sweetest story ever. i only wish i was tiny enough to fit the ones i’ve found – they’re so short! lol.
best of luck with the shop – if i’m ever in that chunk of north america, i’ll be sure to stop by (and maybe even bring the dresses that are too small – haha)
I’ve had you as a flickr contact for a while and I adore your pictures, but today popped over here and I have been hypnotized all afternoon! I am IN LOVE with your store, your style and all the crafty awesomeness you have here. I just wanted to let you know your blog is a treat and that you have a new fan! π
i loved this! and love that you get actually get them from older ladies sometimes haha
this is so cute! jon hamm is dreamy, i met him once at a film premiere and he is just as dashing in person. he also called me “darlin'” and i blushed. π
oh my goodness, that just makes it even cooler… buying direct from the source if you will… i never would have thought of getting them from old ladies but that is genius, and so so cute!
sometimes i can’t wait to be a cute tattooed old lady with pink hair…
What could be better than old ladies with bright colored hair? That’s such a sweet story π
oh what a great juicy couture picture! i like the contrast of old women and the young lady!
I have a few decades to go, but when I’m a little old lady, I’m DEFINITELY going for a colorful ‘do! It looks so chic on grannies! π
always fun when you get a story to go with the outfits too. I posted some more of my mum’s outfits from the 60s-70s yesterday. x
