First, I must say…. I'm not much of a foodie, especially compared to my sister. But here are a few of my simple and sweet current favorite treats. Avocado rolls are my favorite sushi. I like fancier sushi too, but Avocado is my go-to roll. They're simple, healthy and so good.
My other newish food obsession is more of a breakfast treat, but it makes a great snack too. Vanilla yogurt with fresh fruit. My personal favorite is pineapple, but we've tried a lot of different combinations. Cherries, nectarines, plums and grapes… In love!
Tonight I'm making Indian food for dinner. I'm excited. I like to pretend to be a 1960s housewife, but I'm pretty sure they cooked more than two meals per week…. still working on that one. 🙂 XO. elsie
ps. what are your favorite homemade treats?

Well.. I am not sure if this counts as a ‘treat’ but it is one of my favorite homemade meals. Stuffed peppers. I absolutely love green peppers and a green pepper stuffed with goodies makes it so much more yummy!
I especially like to bake, I could do that 7 days a week. But cooking is also fun from time to time – I like homemade Thai or Italien food most! But the best are homemade pralinès…
i’ve been really into vanilla yogurt with fruit lately too! i go with greek yogurt and blueberries, but i think any berries would be great for a little zing 🙂
I’ve been in love with vanilla yogurt with add ins lately, too. I LOVE it with mini chocolate chips! I also love kiwis, bananas and strawberries mixed in. Lately, I’ve been enjoying fabulous salads with fresh veggies and herbs from my garden. Y-U-M!
I looove avocado so much! And sushi, YUMMY! 🙂 I actually have vanilla yogurt almost every morning, but I throw some granola on it because it’s easier to store at work, hah. But my favorite fruit to throw on it are blueberries 🙂
My favorite homemade treats are anything baked, I love baking!!! I am also working on growing herbs and some veggies so we can throw them in with our meals. I had a basil plant (that died 🙁 ) and loved making my own pesto, yummy!
avocado sushi is my absolute FAVORITE! and indian food as well–i think we’re food twins, elsie!
i was also wondering if you’re a vegetarian. i am and i realized i’ve never seen meat in your food posts. just curious.
i don’t really like the bubbles in bubble tea, but yesterday i got coconut milk tea with pineapple jelly instead of bubbles and it was amazing and tropical! so i guess that’s my newfound favorite.
i love making homemade pizza on a wheat crust. with lots of fresh veggies and chicken. i never want to go anywhere for pizza again.
and also i’m a sucker for baking chocolate cakes. i’m on a qwest to find the perfect chocolate cake for me!!
soup beans & dumplings (eggs & flour) with ham.
yummy goodness.
I love homemade granola for brekki. I have a fabulous recipe from an old cookbook.
I also love soft pretzels made from dough I make from scratch. MMM!
Avocado rolls = my favorite too!
oooh indian food! I’d love for you post some indian food recipes. I’ve always wanted to try to something Indian. My husband has very adventurous taste buds and would love it.
Do you make your own avocado rolls? Any tips? I’d love to make them at home, but haven’t had the courage to try!
i don’t have it very often but eaten mess is a nice treat 😉 yummy!
oh and hot chocolate. i do have a sweet tooth don’t i!
great photos… i havent had sushi in a while so i am craving it!! (vegetarian of course)
:))
I totally need to work on my cooking skills. Baking ,well I got that down…cooking. I think once a week is just not enough 🙂
I love to make cheese and spinach dip with garlic and herbs – delicious on a Friday night at the end of a long week!
feta stuffed olives!
My current snack of choice are roasted chickpeas. I strain and rinse a canful, then lay them out on a cookie sheet and roast ’em in the oven. I usually use a tahini/ cinnamon mix if i feel like something sweet, but I have also tossed them in a moroccan spice for my salad (there’s other ideas online). I like it cuz it is more protein than carb and it soothes my snackies.
ooo indian food, that is my all time favorite type of food. Could you post the recipe you are going to use, I’ve always wanted to try making it myself. Thanks!
i. heart. sushi. so much!!! esspc. when avocado is involved!

I love, love, love avocados! I could live on them, seriously. One of my favorite snacks that I have just once in a while are smores. Sooo good!
Avocado sushi is my favorite as well!! So yummy…
I know what you mean about pretending to be a 1960’s housewife. It’s definitely my favorite hobby! <3
Mmm! Here’s something to try: Vanilla Dannon yogurt, fresh strawberrys and blueberries. With a sprinkle of granola on top. Not very original but Mmm! Although mine is usually fruit with yogurt rather than yogurt with fruit. 😛
i’m a sushi-aholic. mmmmmm!

homemade pizza is the best. make sure to get fresh mozzarella cheese and a homemade beer crust. top it all off with fresh veggies like squash, mushrooms, and broccoli-it’s fun to make and great to eat!
holy what!?!
these are two things i’ve been craving everyday.
sushi (sweet potato rolls with inari and avocado on top) and soy yogurt with berries and granola.
SO GOOD.
man oh man how i love me some banana bread. then to top it off with homemade cream cheese icing. WOOO WEEE! obviously, this is no healthy homemade goodie but it sure does taste like a little piece of heaven!
now my mouth is watering.
My favorite snacks are homemade vegan cupcakes…particularly my chocolate covered cherry cupcake creation…YUM!!
My two favorite meals are Dal with Basmati rice and Coconut Curried Vegetables. 🙂
Love, love, love homemade Indian food. Veggie Korma with warm naan. Mmm.
Also, if you haven’t, you should try using Greek yogurt and honey and nuts along with that fresh fruit. So yummy!
Ha! I totally relate to struggling to cook more than two meals a week. Does soup count? Out of a can? (I have to heat it up, after all…)
My favourite homemade treat is a BBQ chicken wing crock pot recipe from my mom. I use drumsticks instead (they’re a little more substantial). Mouth-watering.
another yummy variation on the fruit and yogurt for anyone with sensitivities to dairy is to use chilled coconut cream instead. it’s super tasty and one of my favorite things!:)
I love any kind of sushi 😉
Oatmeal and butterscotch cookies are so yummy, make me think of home and my grandma, who was a 60’s and 70’s diva. Her house was full of rust and orange, brown and turquoise and she had the token white room with white carpet and white furniture. My daughter loves to bake and makes them often 😉
Love avocado too!!! I eat it by itself when they are very ripe w a touch of extra virgin olive oil (Carapella please!) and kosher salt.
The one thing I love to make is whole chicken (organic) in the oven with some orange, lemon, rosemary, garlic, butter, salt&pepper. It’s sooooo delicious! 🙂
I love to cook but my favorite thing to have is tomatoes and cucumbers out of the garden with balsamic vinegar and olive oil drizzled on them.
okay. so its not healthy… but i love love love cupcakes.
yummy!
mmm i really love blackberries or strawberries in vanilla yogurt! delicious.
mmmmm, avocado rolls are SO good! i’m an avocado addict.
I love to make oatmeal and put yogurt in it. Also I found this you put yogurt low fat plain with cottage cheese low fat and add uncooked steal or rolled oats with slivers or almonds and a lilttle vanilla extract it is a jullian michealls recipe
Planning on how to direct my husband to the nearest sushi place for our anniversary on Saturday….haha!
I would love to know how the Indian food was…and the recipe pretty please! 🙂
I love to make green curry with shrimps (the shrimps just for my boyfriend, i´m not allowed to eat that).
I like the spicy taste and the fresh vegetables!
yummy yummy!
I cook 6-7 days a week, and enjoy it most if I’m making something special that involves some work and tastes extra yummy. One of my all time favorites is an ovendish with potatoes, lots of veggies, mincemeat and bechamel sauce, I’ve been making it since I was a kid although over the years I’ve started to add more ingrediënts than were in the original recipe.
Oh and pasta salad, with pasta, andive, chicken, egg, sometimes apple, and all kinds of raw veggies.
I too am a fan of the yogurt and fruit combo, but to really rock it, toss on some granola. My fave is the Archer Farms Vanilla cruch granola. Yum-to-the-eeeeeeeee!
Leanne
I love sushi – and as for avocado, the only time I like avocado is inside a sushi roll. I actually made some and blogged about it this week, too.
And I envy you for having Indian food. My favourite Indian restaurant is too far away for a visit, unfortunately…
I love food! It’s my passion! I love to cook and eat in fancy restaurants. I love sushi with avocado too, the way it slides down so smoothly… Yummmm…
My favorite? It’s really hard to choose…
Ah, I’m hungry now.
Indian food is one of my very favorite things in the whole world.
oh nom ! i love indian food , haven’t tried making it though ..
My current favorites… guacamole and salsa with fresh vegetables from my garden.

I love to make sushi with carrot, pickled ginger and sesame seeds. Jum!
And Indonesian food is the best. If I had the time to cook all day, I would definitely eat this 3 times a week. So tasty!
Wonder how your Indian meal turned out!
Kim
