Oui Fresh Beauty Box — August ’19 Unboxing

I am SO excited to unveil this month’s beauty box because it’s so close to our hearts. August’s theme is “From Nashville with Love” and highlights some of our very favorite brands out of Music City. Jasmine Green Tea Deodorant by Little Seed Farm — value $12

How was your brand founded? After one too many years of city living, Eileen and James Ray came to realize that their true dreams lie in their roots. In early 2012, the couple moved from life in New York City to their farm in rural Tennessee. Little Seed’s mission is to provide humanely and sustainably produced soap and skincare to their community and to encourage other small businesses to embrace land stewardship and sustainable production processes. Little Seed is 100% solar powered and sources earth-friendly and recyclable packaging. Raw materials are organic and sustainably produced and all products are shipped using recyclable and compostable materials. Little Seed Farm endeavors to create a business and farming model based on true sustainability. For LSF, that means starting with a seed. Starting with grass, forage, and botanical seeds that evolve into rich pastures and healing herbs. Our goats are the beneficiaries, happily grazing down the grass as they are rotationally grazed throughout the year. Our team is provided with a happy, safe, and engaging workplace, a living wage and, as of spring 2017, the opportunity to share in a team garden on the farm.

Whether it’s through composting or choosing to use only recyclable packaging, we seek to minimize waste and pollution. By allowing our herd to graze on open land in the fresh air, we believe our alternative farming model can provide our customers with healthier products and the knowledge that it was produced humanely and responsibly.

What do you love most about Nashville? The community as a whole is incredible, and their support of small businesses is amazing. We felt welcome here from day one, and have always been so appreciative of the local support. 

What is your favorite Nashville restaurant? Rolf & Daughters! It’s like no other restaurant in town. Constantly updating and improving both the food and drink menus. The staff is friendly and knowledgeable and the use of locally-sourced, high-quality ingredients, makes a huge difference. Hands down our favorite spot in town for a meal or a cocktail!

Tell us about the product that’s included in the box this month …

The Jasmine Green Tea Deodorant Cream is the latest addition to our acclaimed Deodorant Cream lineup. Our aluminum and baking soda-free deodorant is made from nourishing and gentle organic ingredients, and is perfect for sensitive skin or those who experience irritation with other natural deodorants. The Jasmine Green Tea scent is boosted with activated charcoal powder to further enhance its body odor eliminating capabilities. All of our deodorant creams are free from toxins, parabens, synthetic fragrances, and they are all GMO-free, gluten-free and Leaping Bunny Certified! We also included a bamboo applicator for those who prefer not to use their fingers to apply the cream. Please apply our deodorant cream using damp fingers or applicator and massage in fully until clear. We recommend using a small dab for each underarm and experimenting with using as small amount as possible. What do you love most about Nashville? The people! There is palpable creative energy here and the people create an environment of support and love. There is kindness all around and it shows. I’ve met folks who have relocated here from other cities and they complain about how nice people are here. How can you complain about people demonstrating kindness! It facilitates more kindness and creativity thrives!

What is your favorite Nashville restaurant? Oh, this is tough because there are so many! We are really enjoying The Mockingbird. We always have an excellent meal and they serve these adult Capri-Sun beverages that are so fun.

Tell us about the product that’s included in the box this month … This month, we launch “So Fresh and So Clean.” It’s a completely opaque bright white. I feel like you can wear white nails any time of the year for a polished clean look that is always on trend.

Nourishing Body Oil by ILO — value $12

How was your brand founded? I had been making a body balm for years, created in an attempt to help reduce the appearance of my stretch marks after my first child. I started giving it away to family and friends. Elly (co-owner) was one of the friends. She, like many others, came back saying that she thought the stuff was good enough to sell. She and her husband have experience in branding and marketing, and with their help, ILO was born.

What do you love most about Nashville? I think I like the people the most. It’s a pretty friendly city. I live in one of the most diverse neighborhoods, and coming in contact with so many different cultures is really fun.

What is your favorite Nashville restaurant? This is a really hard question, because Nashville has a lot of great places to eat. I’m going to go a little outside the box, and actually pick a bakery. Dozen Bakery has amazing breads and baked goods. My little family ends up there quite a few weekends a month.

Tell us about the product that’s included in the box this month … We have included a face and body oil. It is perfect for the summer when you don’t want anything too heavy. It’s nutrient dense, but light and soaks in fairly quickly. It works great on the face just before putting on makeup, helps sooth dry patches, and, as I have found out, expecting another child, makes an amazing belly oil.
