My very first hair tutorial here on A Beautiful Mess was How To Rag Roll Your Hair. Since I posted this tutorial 2 years ago, we’ve gotten a lot of questions about the process. Here’s a little video for how to rag roll your hair:
You can view the original post with steps in the original rag curl post. xo. Katie

Yay! I’ve always loved this tutorial, it’s so nice to pick up extra tips and tricks on camera! I need to try this on my short hair, I’ve given up on doing anything fancy with it but I miss playing around with it like I did with my locks when they reached my belly (and then I tragically chopped it all off) Also extra appreciation points for Poe! x
Love this! I will be giving it a go this weekend for sure!!! thanks for sharing!! xx

Goodness you are so beautiful! As is your hair! Thanks for the video! Soooo helpful! I have naturally curly hair, but I think this would help keep them undercontrol!

Good to know! Wet setting is one of the only ways I can get my hair to hold curls. I’ll definitely be trying this out. The video is super helpful!

I looooove doing rag curls (mostly because I’m such a dunce at doing pretty much any other kind of curl). Thanks for the video!

Darling. I want to try this but I don’t think it’ll look quite as cute without that beautiful red color 🙂

This is such a great way to curl hair. You go to bed looking cute with ribbons in your hair…then in the morning, you don’t have to stand there forever holding a curling iron. And…it’s eco-friendly!! Have a lovely day.
Awesome! I’ve done something similar with paper towels, I’m sure fabric will work better.

Love that you are doing more and more videos, I totally like it! Even if it´s more work (i imagine for you guys) I think they add “life” to the posts. :)keep sharing!! love from south america, caro.
So beautiful!! Thanks for the update 🙂
This is so much simpler than the rag rolls I remember as a child for Irish dancing ringlets lol

I do love all the hair tutorials but you ladies all have long hair so all styles for long hair! Can we have some short and pixie styling tips please!
I have never curled my hair like that but I am going to have to try! It doesn’t look too hard either!

My mamma used to curl up my hair this exact way but she also used to deep her comb in water and lemon. Love and cherish this idea. Thank you!
very helpful and seems very easy!

Katie is adorable! I LOVE her!
Wish I could color my hair in that foxy red!
Thanks for the video I’m going to try it this time!
I’d love to use their Pink Medium Soft Cover Notebook for jotting down all of my blog post ideas.
This is the first time I’ve ever seen this before and I am so anxious to try it! I’m really curious how it is going to work with my extra long, stick straight hair. I’m definitely going to be trying this soon.
Adorable! I hope it works on my short hair! I remember trying this once as a kid at a slumber party…and I woke up like Shirley Temple!!
I tried this last night on my hair and it was horrible! The top half of my hair is totally flat, and the bottom half looks like a poodle haha. Any suggestions as to why? Maybe it’s not right for my hair type? (I have very fine hair).
I tried this the other night and ended up with horrid frizz in the morning, instead of the ringlets I was hoping for. Have you got any tips about how much hair to use in each loop vs. how tight to tie it in relation to the curl that we are aiming for? Thanks 😀
You look gorgeous in your hair you such a beautiful creature!
This is something to look forward to. I’m growing out a pixie! Is it too weird that I’d probably roll it and then go clean my house? My slept on hair is terrible!
Katie can pull off just about any hairstyle so well. So jealous!!
You have beautiful hair – and what a great tutorial! 🙂
