Today, I’m sharing a very special Harry Potter-inspired bedroom—our Ravenclaw-inspired room. According to the “official” online quiz, my house is Ravenclaw, so that’s why it’s special to me. 🙂 This bedroom is located in the upstairs of our Florida bnb and is the second master since it has a full bathroom attached (and also a huge closet).
Here you can see a before and after of this room. We mainly just removed some wallpaper and painted. Other than that, it was just a matter of furnishing and decorating. The big window in this room was something interesting to work with. I had a hard time finding blinds and curtains that would fit it well as one big window, so I decided to treat it more like two smaller windows. I’d never done that before and I am really happy with the outcome! I think it looks really nice and I slept in this room while I was there working on the house and the double curtains/blinds situation worked great for blocking light and allowing for great sleep as well. Double win.
I’ll admit, I don’t feel like Ravenclaw is represented all that much in the movies and it’s been a long time since I read the Harry Potter books (I am due for a re-read soon!), so I actually felt a little lost on what to do in this space to represent this Hogwarts house well. I landed on a bold blue accent wall (the color is Behr’s Express Blue), blue and purple-ish rug, and a fun little star and moon tapestry. I also added a faux raven to one of the side lamps for a touch of whimsy. Ha! This room is quite simple but I am really happy with it. I rarely decorate with blue and I actually really love the vibe of it—feels sort of soothing in this space.
Here are a few items from the space. My number one tip for updating a piece of furniture you buy from a big box store (like Amazon or IKEA) is to swap out the hardware. This can totally change the vibe of a piece! Items: 1 / 2 / 3 / 4 / 5 / 6
I loved that this bathroom has a double sink (in addition to a shower and tub too). I have a feeling for this reason alone it will likely be the room Trey and I stay in when we visit. 🙂 Thanks for letting me share! xo. Emma
Room Sources: area rug, curtains, faux ravens (or maybe crows … who’s to say), side tables, side lamps, dresser, moon phase tapestry, bathroom rug.

Beautiful!
I don’t want to be *that* person, but I feel like someone needs to say it on behalf of all the misrepresented Ravenclaw merchandise out there: A common mistake, but Ravenclaw’s animal is actually an eagle, not a raven.
Send me all the links to the eagle merch. I am here for it. 🙂
Also would have loved to add some kind of diadem / tiara… but maybe that belongs in the Slytherin room?
Yes, a diadem would be perfect! Here’s the movie one for inspiration. https://www.amazon.com/Ravenclaw-Voldemorts-Horcrux-Deathly-Hallows/dp/B00IZHPXGQ
This is a cool print that matches the colors. https://society6.com/product/ravenclaw378638_print?c_kid=s6-6840516p4a1v1&sku=s6-6840516p4a1v1&utm_source=GOOGLE&utm_medium=cpc&campaign=%5BNB%5D_1027_US_%5BPLA%5D_MOB_Wall_Art_Art_Prints&adgroup=Wall+Art+-+Prints+-+NewPT&utm_term=PRODUCT_GROUP?tracking=search&gclid=CjwKCAiA1rPyBRAREiwA1UIy8AQYMgtSiaPf9_FOj6eB3xsNffSsYw2FV_Zx1RP_zUn92_zzLmzIyRoCBA0QAvD_BwE&gclsrc=aw.ds
This room needs a HUGE bookshelf, a telescope, and a ceramic bust decorated with random objects (to represent Ravenclaw’s diadem being hidden in the Room of Requirement). Maybe a star light fixture!
I agree with you, Erin! Those are good ideas! I love the bust idea a lot! I was thinking something that has to do with knowledge, wisdom, the diadem…. Also, Luna Lovegood was a Ravenclaw, so maybe something that’s a nod to her? Like a DIY’d Quibler or a cut out of her crazy nargles glasses? Her friends also hid her shoes from her, so maybe a pair of shoes hidden somewhere super crazy (like attached to the ceiling).
I love this series, Emma. You’re making me want to reread the books too! Or even come up with a mood board for a Harry Potter house! I love this!
I love it!!!!!!!!!!
I need those lamps. 🙂
The whole house is very cute and you did a great job on a budget and limited time (I love the colours you’ve used so far). I do find the décor a little “underwhelming”/”bare” compared to other décor you’ve posted before. But at the same time, there is room to evolve over time (maybe once you’ve re-acquainted yourself with the universe). Can’t wait to see what happens to the backyard!!!
HOW do you find those amazing rugs? This one and the ones from the other rooms look stunning. I find rugs so hard to shop for online – i can never imagine how they feel texture-wise as well as how a small square of pattern will look 20 times that size on my floor. If you want to do a post on rug shopping, i’d be all for that.
I absolutely love it!! That tapestry, wow! These Harry Potter rooms are the best. I would totally stay there. Loved the Slytherin and Hufflepuff rooms as well.
I have that EXACT wall color and rug in my living room….does that mean I’m really a Ravenclaw and not a Hufflepuff??
Hey Emma!
Do you mind sharing where you got the fan?! I want to replace some fans in my house and have been googling for options that are simple and sleek, just like this one! Thanks ????
I really like how the other bedrooms had the accent wall and a statement piece (the snake rug in the Slytherin room and owl bean bag in the Hufflepuff room), but this room seems like to lack a statement piece. The bookshelf idea that someone suggested would be great, or even a small chessboard table.
Agreed! This room just looks like it’s themed blue to me.
Etsy has the most amazing bronze eagle bookends! You need them for this room!

I am loving these updates and can’t wait to see it launch! I grew up in Orlando, and my parents still live there- us 4 sisters love HP! Hoping we can rent this space one Christmas when our family is finally all together <3
