There have been some pretty heated debates at my house regarding which is better: pancakes or waffles? So far we’ve never had a clear winner (and who needs one anyway—they are both delicious!). But I must admit that team waffles have at least two major points in their favor. Waffles are easier to make (because there is no flipping needed, the iron does it all for you). And I love having a little pocket for my maple syrup to pool in. Maybe it’s just me?
This is THE waffle recipe to make if you wake up on Saturday morning (or any day really) and need a super easy, quick, and dependable waffle recipe. This recipe makes delicious, fluffy waffles that are slightly crispy on the outside but still soft (and absorbent—for syrup!) on the inside. These are an instant classic.
I love blender waffles because you just add the ingredients to a blender, let it do its thing, and pour the batter in the waffle iron. Then you only have your blender to clean afterward too. It’s basically the exact same process as making a morning smoothie, so we’ll call this the weekend edition of that routine. 🙂
Add some fresh fruit, a little butter, and drizzle on the maple syrup and you are in business! I love a slow Saturday morning and this is the perfect waffle recipe to go with it. Enjoy! xo. Emma
Saturday Morning Blender Waffles
Ingredients
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 2 tablespoons arrow root powder or cornstarch
- 1/2 teaspoon aluminum-free baking powder
- 1/4 teaspoon baking soda
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/8 teaspoon cinnamon
- 1 cup milk
- 1/2 cup extra virgin olive oil
- 1 egg
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
Instructions

In a blender, combine all the ingredients. Blend until well combined, no need to over blend. Allow to sit for 15-20 minutes (make the coffee, slice the fruit, etc.)

Follow the waffle iron manufacturer's directions to make waffles with the batter.

I’ve always just had frozen waffles at home, but this recipe changes everything! Guess I’ll be having waffles this Sunday then, instead of pancakes! 😀

i MUST try this! we have the very same discussion every time. Ey make some waffles… mmm how about pancakes instead? … ok … its pancakes this time, but waffles next time, right ? it’s great to keep this converstation going, so you always have an excuse to do the other thing you didn’t do last time! will try this ones!!! the “one thing to wash after” it’s the sales speech i needed!!
I made these today and had them with chocolate sauce and strawberries and they were delicious! I don’t have a blender but I do have a large food processor which blends and I never would have thought to make waffle batter in them – thanks for the idea!
I made these this morning! I have two under 3.5 and my 4 month old can’t have dairy, so I can’t have dairy. I threw the dry ingredients into my blender last night and set up the waffle iron for this morning. I swapped out unsweetened vanilla almond milk for the milk, added a tiny bit of maple extract and then put bananas and walnuts on top! Between my husband, myself and my daughter we did not have any leftovers and we LOVED how they came out! Finishing this morning was so fast! I highly recommend. 😀
I’ve been making waffles for my husband and I for the past 3 years. Tried out many recipes and added my own extras at times. I liked how easy this recipe was so I tried it this morning. My husband declared after eating his that it’s the best waffle he’s had, yay! Thanks Emma!
Oh and I subbed the egg (for a flax egg) and milk (for almond milk + 1 TBS of apple cider vinegar) to make it vegan and worked out great! I also love how there is no added sugar to the batter which allows for a healthy pour of syrup on waffle 🙂

The driest recipe I’ve ever made with very little structural integrity (breaks apart when removing).. in the 20 years I’ve been using my waffle iron, I’ve never had a mixture stick to it before and often don’t even need to oil the plates.. this one so thoroughly stuck to the iron it required me to soak the pieces before I could remove them from the non-stick oiled surface..
I’ve not seen a waffle recipe with only 1 egg before, which may be the downfall of this one.
Cooked the remaining mixture in a frying pan with a little butter, made an ok hotcake.
My kids love them, I checked them 2 weeks earlier and tried them last weekend. They are as delicious as they are looking. Seriously in love with your recipe, keep posting love to share with my family.
I used vanilla almond mike & applesauce (in place of egg) but made into pancakes. I cooked pancakes using my Saladmaster pan without any added oil – had no problem with sticking whatsoever. I like the touch of cinnamon. My husband said they were some of the best I had made in a while.
These were so good! My children were literally fighting over each waffle as they came out of the waffle iron! This is going to be my go-to waffle recipe from now on. Thanks for sharing!
This is my new “GO TO” Waffle recipe. I did not add the cinnamon to the recipe and used
1/4-cup Olive Oil & 1/4-cup Coconut Oil in place of only the olive oil.
First— I put the wet ingredients in blender, then added the dry ingredients.
These are THE best waffles I have ever made.
