The holiday season is usually full of events to document, but we have an extra one thrown in with a birthday the week after Halloween. Just when we figure out our rhythm with school being in session, someone hits fast forward and suddenly we’re two holidays down and two major ones to go. High camera phone quality makes it a little easier to capture all of the fun without holding a toddler in one arm and a sensitive piece of equipment with the other, so getting the pictures isn’t my hang up. It’s getting them documented in a timely manner before they snowball and I have four major holidays to catch up on and zero motivation to put together a Halloween color scheme when I’m staring the new year in the face.
Thankfully, November’s Messy Box has made it a little easier to document both our early and late fall memories. I love the blue buffalo plaid paired with the yellow but I can also see me using up the rest of my red buffalo plaid and black and white patterns on a Christmas spread. I’ve also incorporated a few bits from other Messy Box months that I didn’t use into these two pages below.
I added in a few more photos this time because I found myself documenting all of the foliage in our yard. I literally had to stop myself from taking pictures of the trees in our neighborhood, but they were extra beautiful this fall. The page below is a few Instagram snaps that stood out in October that I want to make sure I don’t forget. I love how bold the prints are paired with the orange and yellow. I created a little bit of negative space in one of the squares by trimming one photo down into a circle.
The page above will go into a full page photo sleeve. This buffalo plaid with white alpha stickers on top feels very collegiate. With so much going on in the other two spreads, I wanted something simple but interesting on this page. I printed out a horizontal photo so that it was 8.5″ wide and then added the buffalo plaid paper below. It’s a fun way to show off your favorite photos.
Have you already scrapbooked your Halloween memories? Are you using traditional colors or something a little different?-Rachel

What size do you print your photos to fit into the different pocket pages? Do you have a trick with cropping?
This may seem silly but where and how do you print the photos to the right size? That seems to be my stumbling block…
This is cute! Real CUTE! But where can I get those? I can’t find them on mags…..

I love your scrapbooks and it is Tuesday here: I am so glad that it is November and I wish I could get a messy box Xx
Your motivation to do a project like this is really inspiring! At best I do a yearly photo album, but now I want to put more effort into decorating it. 🙂
This might be a silly question but do you have all of the various spreads you’ve had on Scrapbook Sunday posts in one album?
Can’t wait to get home and add some of this month’s Messy Box to my December Daily album!

I really look forward to Scrapbook Sundays on ABM. The tip on creating negative space this week was useful. So glad it’s a regular feature, and splitting posts between Elsie and Rachel is genius – I love getting to see different styles!
So cool! I love that one with the little pumpkin and the speech bubble!
