Hello, friends. Lately Sister Style photos have been taking on a whole new meaning for us. When we pull up to a spot we've picked out, we start reminiscing about all the times we've done photos there before (our town's kind of small, so we use similar places now and again).
Take this lovely green/teal wall for example. We've done a few Sister Style photos here before. A long time ago, I guess four or five years ago, we used this as a backdrop for some photos for our online vintage clothing shop as well. And I also remember a time when we snapped a couple photos here that we used to announce that the ABM app had reached a million downloads. Whoa. So many milestones and moments around our town, and so much changing in the car in the hot, sweaty heat. Ha!
Elsie's Wearing: Denim Jacket/ASOS, Hat/TopShop, Sunnies/Crap Eyewear, Top/ASOS, Shorts/Forever21, Shoes/Swedish Hasbeens c/o ModCloth, Tote/J.Crew.
Emma's Wearing: Dress and Sunnies/F21, Shoes/ASOS, and Necklace c/o ONecklace.
Sorry if we're just a little nostalgic lately. We're just remembering all the good things as we start to move into a new chapter of life soon. It's exciting and also terrifying, so remembering where we've come from and how fun the ride has been so far somehow keeps us feeling grounded. Thanks for letting us share. xo. Emma + Elsie

My best friend and I have lots of memories of places we’ve taken photos at. I love walking down memory lane with her.
I love the nostalgic posts. My husband, baby girl and I are moving away from both of our families in September and we’re so excited and nervous! Going through things for a garage sale has been a major tear-fest. Change, even good change, is so hard!
Love Emma’s dress!!
This is not related to this post, but I didn’t see an email to ask you this…. we just bought a house and are closing this week and it needs a whole Lotta love!!! I am so overwhelmed with paint colors and am trying to figure out my color story for the home, but what I’m mostly struggling with is picking the correct white. I didn’t see a related post in your archives… can you help me out?! How did you choose the whites you chose for your walls, trim, ceiling, cabinets, etc…?? We can’t exactly afford to regret or mess up π so with all your experiences what’s your advice for me? Or just tell me which white exactly π our home depot and ace carry Valspar, Behr, Clark and Kensington, and Glidden (are any if those better or worse…??). I hope you see this, thanks!!!! Aloha!
Hey Amy! Congratulations on your new space!!
Here’s my advice on choosing a white:
-Buy test samples. This is really BIG. Don’t but all your gallons till you’ve tried some samples on your wall (try a light and darker area so you can see how it looks in both spaces and look at it in daylight and at night).
-Choose a brighter white for trim and cabinets and a warmer (or maybe a touch of gray) for your walls.
-The colors and light that already exist in your home will determine how the white looks. There is not one good white for every space.
But if you want to try one we’ve used an loved, I am using Valspar Marshmallow (bright white) for most of my new house. My last home was Valspar Thistle Seed (more warm white).
-Behr is good quality paint if you want to do less coats. That’s what my painter likes best.
Have fun!!! xoxo- Elsie
Such sweet looks! And too cool that you’ve got memories from all of these fun spots around town. Love it, ladies!

You should never apologize for being nostalgic. It’s part of the life.
I think it’s ok to be nostalgic sometimes, It’s good to look back and see everything that already happened. Makes me strong to keep going.
I loved the hat Elsie. Such style. π

You two are adorable!!
Thank you for your insight!!! We haven’t told anyone yet, so I’ve been doing a lot of it on my own without any extra consulting. So it’s kind of killing me π I think my husband is wanting to wait until it’s all finalized!
Great photos!! love the white forever 21 dress!!!

I kind of know how you feel. I’m moving from Honolulu to Glasgow next month, and I’m already missing so many of the beautiful views here. But there are still so many memories to be made in a new country. I can’ wait.
I think all the feelings you’re feeling are completely legit. Enjoy the journey!
Oh that dress is wonderful!

Love your sister style posts! Always SO fun π
Love this so much. Starting a new chapter is exciting and sad all at once. But we never know what we can accomplish if we don’t push ourselves to explore new things.

love this post. I’m moving away from home for the first time next year – feeling excited and terrified as well! How do you girls balance the feelings of knowing you want to be moving in different directions but also want to (I’m assuming) stay together? I’m scared of closing this chapter of my life to start another…
On a more happy note, love Emma’s dress! π
Elsie, your body is so fit! The red shorts suit you! I am also loving Emma’s white maxi dress!
