Cheers to the good part of winter! You know, the one month leading up to Christmas and not the 2 freezing cold months after (well, maybe 4 months if you're in Missouri). We've already had snow flurries here. It's crazy. On the bright side it's been fun to pull out all our winter clothes. I love scarves and tights and boots and coats and hot drinks and holiday music playing in the grocery stores. Life is good.
Just so you know, for the next five months every outfit post we do where we aren't wearing coats is a lie. We were talking yesterday about how funny/lame it would be if we just did five months of sister style post where we wear the same coat in every photo. Haha. So pretty much immediately after I took these photos of Emma, she ran straight to her giant, go-to winter coat. π
Elsie's Wearing: Capelet/She Inside, Top/Madewell, Jeans/Jessica Simpson, Shoes/Minnetonka Moccasins, Bag/3.1 Phillip Lim (a birthday gift from my love). Emma's Wearing: top/vintage + DIY, skirt/vintage, shoes/Minnetonka Mocs from my mom. :)
Are you guys excited for Thanksgiving? We are!! We have a little tradition of running the Turkey Trot 5k on Thanksgiving morning. This year a bunch of our girlfriends are running with us. Which reminds me… I need to buy some gloves. BRRR! What about you, is it cold in your neck of the woods yet? xo. Elsie + Emma too

The photos are adorable! I love the movement in the shots – so much fun! And I love that cape!

adorable!
Don’t complain about a few flurries. We have 2 ft of snow and it never goes anywhere till May…
So missing your sister style posts! Did you skip autumn this year? π
And here I thought Missouri doesn’t get cold…
You girls are too cute!
Definitely know about that cold weather thing. #midwestprobs

How Mary Poppins! Haha! Love both of your outfits! Expecially Emma’s skirt! So fairytale! π

Those moccasins are so adorable they’re actually making me wish it was winter here in Australia – and it’s only just coming into summer! From a person who hates winter, this is a big deal! So sad Minnetonka don’t have any stores in Aus π
Looks like a fun shoot! I eyed a capelet, but figured I wouldn’t get much use of it living in San Diego. Happy Thanksgiving to Elsie and Emma!
Winter it surely is, brr! Cute outfits!
Elsie, i love your bag!
you two look amazing… those flying pics… georgeous!
LOVE the photography. Beautiful.
Love the pictures. We’ve had the first snow of the year, and I’m not going anywhere without one of my winter coats. But I do love those cold and starry winter nights.
Happy Thanksgiving!

Oh I love Emma’s skirt so fun to have a picture on it and I bet quite warm too. Elsie I really like your capelet but I see it’s from sheinside and I’ve only ever heard really bad things about them, what was your experience like?

Good luck running the turkey trot! I cannot run when I am cold
Outfit posts are so much more difficult in the winter! Especially when you really only have one coat!

It’s already freezing in Wisconsin. We had freezing rain, a couple snows, and wind chills below zero. Only five more months till spring hits here :
Love it! Both looks are holiday ready! Love that jacket!
Minnesota is always cold…so there’s nothing new over here! π

Oh lady, it is chilly here too–excited to escape to FL for the holiday.
It’s been freezing for a month up here on the OH/PA border…having our first big snowstorm right now, 8 inches expected!
Love emma’s vintage dress. http://www.comedomenica.blogspot.com
It is so cold right now, but it definitely puts me in the Thanksgiving spirit!
love that thrifted skirt!

What is that lipstick you’re wearing, Elsie? It’s gorgeous!
Such cute outfits, I love love love that cape!
Yes! I hate the fact that winter came early! I’m not ready to cope with the cold yet. Living in Chicago, I think it gets colder here than it does in Missouri.

We’re on the west coast of Canada and we haven’t got snow yet, unfortunately. But that didn’t stop us from going to chop down a Christmas tree already!

elsie your coat is darling!
SO cute and haha…yeah, I know how it is. Chicago girl here. That’s why finding the right winter coat is important…cause it’s essentially your “LOOK” for the next five months straight. π
I live in South Africa so it’s hot and sunny here! It’s weird for me to associated christmas with snow cause we always have a braai (barbeque) and swim in the pool on christmas. Going for ice-cream in an hour π
Love this blog so much!
You both look lovely. Emma’s landscape patchwork skirt is AMAZING. Stay warm on the run!
I love love love the cape/jacket. And excuse me – how cute are you in those clothes Emma.

This must be the time of year when Northern and Southern Hemispheres diverge! I read nothing from the US that applies to me. We are sitting in the mid 20s (Celsius) wondering whether to embrace our forefathers and go the whole Christmas Turkey and trimmings thang or just go all out modern Aussie and do prawns and beers! Me, I have English parents so the family will be forced to suffer a trad Chrissy. Enjoy your cold time guys and think of us readying our bikini bodies, thank God for one pieces! BTW we don’t celebrate turkey’s in Nov. but we do celebrate Australia Day Jan 26th with two up and BBQs. Love to all in your season whatever it is.
Elsie, your cape is stunning! With our lack of Thanksgiving in the UK, I am getting super excited for the run up to Christmas π

I really like your outfit but – is this real fur? :/
Lovely shots and outfits as always, but I feel could just looking at them hahaha.
Sat here with my morning coffee doing my abm/pinterest routine waiting for the heat to come on. It’s 2 celsius outside and snow is coming..
Warm greetings from The Netherlands.
SO cool the capelet with the hood and the bag goes very well with your outfit.
Have a great day.

Oh yes, itΒ΄s getting colder and colder on my side of the pond. ItΒ΄s freezing every night now.
I also heard, that itΒ΄s supposed to start snowing during the coming weekend. IΒ΄m not sure, wether I like that!
Such pretty clothes. In love with the cape!

No it is not. π
elsie
I wish me and my sister lived close enough so we could go out and take picture s of each other π cute shots guys x
Just adorable.
So cold here that if my sister and I were to do a “sister style,” it would consist of us scrunched on the sofa in our onesies and dressing gowns and with not an inch of bare skin showing!!
That first shot is stunning!!
Elsie, I’ve always wondered about your lipstick. It’s always darker around the edges and lighter in the middle. Is that something that you do on purpose or does it just wear off, naturally, in the most beautiful possible way? I love the look!
Love the photography…brilliant work!

Totally agree with Sarah! I was pretty impressed with how much ‘air’ you got in those jumping pictures:)
Oh! That skirt. That vintage skirt. So fantastic. Lucky girl!

I too know Missouri winter – love the photos –
I’ve seen mixed reviews about sheinside.com. What are your views?
Great photos! I love the cape and that skirt!
Elsie, what lip color are you wearing? It is a most gorgeous shade. π
Elsie,
I read your blog for a quite long time and i love it. Perhaps i missed a post, but this is the first time i see you waering fur. I myself live vegan and i appreciate you as a caring and thoughtful person. I would regard you really start thinking about fur and cruel things people do to animals. This fur could be your beloved dog.
I’m sure your blog in all it’s plenty could be even admirable and inspiring without animal cruelty.
xx, Anna Leonie
VERY BEAUTIFULL.,.,
It’s faux fur! π
elsie
It’s wine with everything (Revlon)
xo! elsie
It just wears off. My lips don’t hold lipstick very well. That’s why I don’t wear bright colors that often. π
elsie
My opinion- you get what you pay for. It’s cheap clothing just like most mall stores. I didn’t expect it to be high quality, so I wasn’t disappointed.
elsie
i LOVE the first photo! so cute!
Love your cape, Elsie! I’ve got a cobalt one in my shop if you’re interested.

Hey girls!
I have been enjoying your blog for the past couple of years and you have really inspired me to get involved with my own DIY adventures! I have never posted before, but I was wondering if Elsie would consider posting a video tutorial on how she styles her bangs?
I recently got bangs and have the most difficult time trying to get them to lay flat!
You guys are awesome!
Thanks!
