So, we had a tiki party last week (such a fun theme by the way) and I wanted to have a few signature cocktails for people to be able to choose from and then make themselves. I printed out a little menu with all the drinks, and this South Seas Sling was the clear winner by far according to my husband who was playing bartender for the night. It’s fresh, lightly floral, and tastes like a tropical breeze just blew into the room…South Seas Sling
Slightly adapted from Oh So Beautiful Paper
1 oz Gin
1 oz St-Germain
1/2 oz Benedictine
1 oz pineapple juice
1/2 oz lime juice
Add all ingredients into a shaker (extra points for a gold pineapple shaker!) with ice and shake well until combined.
Pour into glass filled with ice and garnish with a lime and whatever other tiki garnishes you want. Edible orchid stems are obviously amazing but that may be a bit expensive for a party, so you could either skewer one flower per drink with a pineapple chunk or just load a skewer with tropical fruit instead.
If you like your drinks not too sweet but with a slight fruity twist this is a great option, as the pineapple juice adds some sweetness but the lime helps balance it out with a little punch of tartness as well. These shake-and-pour drinks are an easy way to make a fancy cocktail at parties and I hope this one appears on your menu soon! xo. Laura
