I try to be honest and objective about all the work I do. If it can be improved, I want to improve it! So on the random occasion that a recipe turns out SO MUCH BETTER than I even imagined, I’m pretty darn excited.
Milkshakes, you guys!
I recently entered a milkshake phase. Dangerous territory, I know. Every time we have guests over, I make a different milkshake. Most of them are spiked. It’s SO fun. I thought I already had a favorite recipe (cookie butter + whiskey milkshake), but this one stole first place for sure.
Am I bragging too much about my milkshake? I hope not. But if I am, you’ll just have to try it to confirm whether or not it lives up to this hype! Also, we got to team up with Vitamix again, and I’m using the 5200 Standard for this post. Check below to see how you could win one!
Spiked Peppermint Mocha Milkshake Recipe, serves one.
Chocolate ice cream
Peppermint Schnapps
Coffee Liqueur
Candy Canes
Milk (of any kind, I use almond milk)
In your Vitamix blender, combine 1 cup chocolate ice cream, half a cup milk, 1.5 ounces peppermint schnapps, 1.5 ounces coffee flavored liqueur and one whole candy cane. Blend and serve!
I garnished mine with a peppermint rim, another candy cane and a little whipped cream.
The number one key to making great cocktails at home is to always measure your alcohol. When people just pour in however much “seems right”, it’s usually way too much, which makes your drinks less tasty because the proportions are all off. As a general rule, I use 1.5 ounces for a small glass and 3 ounces for a tall glass. Before I started going by this, my drinks were really hit or miss (too strong, too weak, etc.), but now they are much more consistent!
(Even though this is a sponsored post, this next part is 100% on me, OK?) I LOVE MY VITAMIX! We have been using it twice a day for the past month. We’ve made salad dressings, sauces, soups and smoothies. I’m really glad we got one before I started on my cookbook recipes because it’s a game changer!
This milkshake is cuckoo crazy. Just. So. Good.
It leans more toward the chocolate flavors than the coffee. If you want a more intense coffee flavor, I recommend subbing the chocolate ice cream for coffee ice cream.
Are you planning a party? You definitely need to whip up a few of these. And don’t forget to listen to this song while you’re doing it. It elevates the whole experience by like 10 points.
Last but definitely not least, one lucky reader is going to win a Vitamix 5200 Standard! Just follow the directions below:
Giveaway is open until 12/14, and the winner will be contacted shortly after. I can’t believe it’s already time to say this…. HAPPY HOLIDAYS!

Hey Mandy!
Just make a vanilla milkshake, but add a couple spoonfuls of Cookie Butter and 1 shot of whiskey. :)))) xoxo! Elsie
We are vegans and LOVE our Vitamix! We use it at least twice a day. It makes short work of blending, pureeing, and chopping.
We use A commercial Vitamix at our business. It’s seriously the best!!!!
Thanks ABM for these contests. It’s fun to join and to try to catch them before they close. So far, I’ve only entered in on one, and then here. This post makes me crave a milkshake
I would be super pumped to win a Vitamix! I have been considering buying one, but just don’t feel I can justify the cost right now.

can’t wait till i’m not pregnant anymore to try this milkshake! i would sooo love to win this vitamix too!
Is this receipe gluten free? I want to make it for a friend but no nothing about what has gluten and what doesn’t! HELP!
It could be, but you would have to verify that each ingredient/brand used was gluten free to be sure! :)) -Elsie
I just kinda forgot my spoon in my ninja (used it to pour out a portion of my smoothie) and re-blendedbent the spoon/broke the pitcher/burnt off the grinder joint/and ruined the central knife all at same time = waiting to decide if I should upgrade to the vita (sexy & dreamy all in one) or pick a new ninja (sad).
I’m never lucky, but crossing my fingers this time for making that peppermint shake sounds heavenly. I’d just keep the alcohol as a side and take it right away or with sips on the side like I do with my Bloody Mary combo.
OMG yum! I need to try this ASAP!
Wow, this sounds amazing. I have saved your post and will definitely be trying this sometime during the holiday season!

I know that this blender makes healthy recipes easier, but I think the only things I would make with this are milkshakes.
