Today I am super excited to share a tour of my office. You’ve seen it before (here, here + here), but it’s been a while, and I almost forgot that I never shared an official tour! Honestly, it’s always messy and that’s the main reason. But today I am finally ready to share a full tour of my office. Welcome!!
Sources: Coffee table/made by Josh (similar DIY here), Sofa c/o Joybird (it’s the Worthy Loveseat), Wool felt pillows/DIY.
The half-painted door is a project I am still loving! It makes such a visual impact and was super quick to execute. If you’re looking for a way to add a splash of color to your room without painting a wall, I highly recommend it!
My office is a creative zone. It’s not a super big room (medium size bedroom), and like I said before, it’s usually pretty messy. I do projects in here, all my scrapbooking, write blog posts and have meetings with our team. I’m happy that I chose to go pretty colorful with a lot of the decorations and clean white with the walls.
The light is really good in my office, and you’ll probably notice that one of my windows is missing a curtain (they went out of stock before I could get one—haha), but it doesn’t really bother me since I don’t really spend any time in this room during the night (except for our occasional Livestream nights).
As you can see, I didn’t stray too far from my comfort zone color palette (yellow and turquoise). What can I say? I’m predictable.
My color-coordinated paint/paper/ribbon storage is a highlight. The bottom (metal) part of it is something I bought at a garage sale and Josh built the top part for me to store ribbons and paint. I’ve said before that open storage is a must for me because once I put something in a box or in a closet, I usually forget I have it and never use it.
Plus anything organized by rainbow color gets bonus points in my book!
In the corner I store my printer. It’s the Canon PIXMA iP8720 Crafting Printer, and it’s the only printer I use for everything, including printing all the photos I use in my scrapbooks and pretty much everything on my walls too. I store most of my scrapbooking supplies in this cabinet.
The pineapple is from one of our book signings at Urban Outfitters last year. I thought it was really sweet that they took the time to make it for us, so I used it as wall art!
This desk was a fun surprise. After changing my mind repeatedly about what I wanted, I told Josh “surprise me” (which doesn’t happen too often…normally I know exactly what I want. So this was Josh’s lucky day). I was leaning toward an all white or pink desk (inspired by Jenna Lyons’ office, of course), and Josh was inspired by the glossy epoxy top. So that is what happened. Love it!
See the DIY for the desk here, the rope shelves here and the hanging planters (made with fish bowls) here.
I love the top of the desk! Josh used different paint colors and then covered the whole thing with epoxy. It’s really fun, colorful and completely practical for everyday work too.
These hanging planters are one of my favorite “weird supply DIYs”. Who knew that plastic fish bowls could be used to make such pretty, modern planters! DIY here.
Here’s how it looks from the doorway. My small cowhide rug is from here (some of the better prices we’ve found online).
This sunburst mirror, thrifted/restyled cart and patterned wall were a few of my favorite projects we did in this room. I lost the before photo of this cart, but I wish you could have seen how gross it was before getting a shiny coat of bright chartreuse paint.
Fun stuff. I love details, and as much as I try to focus on purging and organizing, I will never be a minimalist. Thank you so much for taking a look at my office!
Books and products seen throughout the room: Refinery29: Style Stalking, Design Mom: How to Live with Kids, A Beautiful Mess Happy Handmade Home, Bright Bazaar: Embracing Color for Make-You-Smile Style, Paper to Petal, Vera: The Art and Life of an Icon, Away At Home, kate spade new york: places to go, people to see, Avedon Fashion 1944-2000, Tim Walker Pictures.
Keiko Glasses in Lily White, Pink Cateyes by Crap Eyewear, Face Planters via Urban Outfitters (out of stock now), Geometric Vase/CB2, Teal Lamp/similar. If you have any other questions about where I found things, just ask me in the comments!
Other favorite home decor posts: Bleach-spotted fabric (I see some curtains using this tutorial in my near future!), Laura’s Art Room (just bc it’s so cute), Workshop Space Organization, Make a hanging hammock chair, and Emma’s Home Office.

We all probably by now feel like home just by looking at these familiar spaces. And we love 🙂 Elsie, did you always like white walls? It seems you were into somewhat darker spaces before so I was wondering how that change happend. Hugs!
so amazing! love everything in the space- especially the rainbow-coded craft area!
did you have a DIY for the paint brush-stroke back splash in the photo of you (elsie) and emma!?!?!?!
so great!
Love the door and the subtle pattern on the wall!! Very fun simple ways to personalize a space; I am inspired!
This is SO organized. I don’t craft (for reals) but I really appreciate how vibrant and bright everything looks. Also, I’ve never seen that kind of a door treatment before and now I definitely want it in my home…
Oooh so in love with all the colours! This looks really fresh! I adore the pins on the wall too. THOUGHTS IN TIFFANY BLUE

I absolutely love your office! Creating my own office/craft space is one thing I look forward to doing in the future and I’m definitely going to use your office as inspiration. Thanks for sharing! 🙂
Although out of stock, where are the curtains from?
I absolutely adore those pillows!
What a cozy, light and colorful office, I love it! Must be a treat to work there.
Elsie, you should do an updated version of your daily makeup routine. Your makeup in this post is perfect for day to day or for the office!! I’d love to know how you do it or what you use!
Functional yet fun, love this!
I love this room! What an inspiring space! I can’t wait to buy my own home, so I can create a space like this (currently renting and can’t paint or use nails). I’ve been dying to paint a door like that since I saw your original post!

Your office is so cool. I’d love to have an “office” as such. My office is currently any quiet space i can find within my home. I love how bright and colourful the room is as well. Definitely somewhere I’d love to work.

Your office is so lovely! I do wish you’d show us your “beautiful mess” though and what it “normally” looks like. Let us other creatives know that we’re not the only messy ones around. 🙂
I love the bright colors and the mixture of patterns and shapes!

So in love with this room! Pinning every picture onto our office makeover board!
Elsie, I love your office space! It’s vibrant and light and filled with inspiration for new art projects.
Happy Wednesday 🙂
Love your office!! The rainbow colors are so cheerful!
Where did you get the craft table your printer rests on? I want to get a similar one for all my happy mail and journals! Is it Ikea?
Thanks xx
Hi Eva,
I do favor white walls right now because I realized that I want to have colorful “things” so I like the balance that creates. If I had colorful walls AND colorful things it might be too busy. Plus I like the extra brightness for photos (and just general good vibes!).
xx- Elsie
Thank you!
That’s not a DIY, but you don’t need a DIY! If you want to use it for inspiration to make something similar- feel free! I promise you can pull it off!

Thanks Haley!

At first I read that as “can’t paint your nails” and I was like- whoa, that’s strict!
Haha! -Elsie
You can see it here- http://abeautifulmess.com/2014/11/casual-friday-vol-18.html That’s pretty accurate.
XO! Elsie

This is such a beautiful workspace! I feel exactly the same about open storage but sadly until I have an office/studio rather than the kitchen table cupboards are a must. The painted door is stunning!

Love how bright and colorful your office is! I’m having a hard time picking a favorite part…the door, the ribbon/paint storage, the desk, the photos and art behind the desk…love it all! This is giving me some great ideas for things to do with my work area!
Oh wauw that is amazing. Looks like a dream room to me 🙂 Your creativity is so inspiring!

So, are you a floor artist and scrapbooker? My cousin is an amazing artist and she paints on floor. She says it’s more comfortable than sitting at an easel and she gets to spread all her stuff around!
Wow, beautiful office Elsie! Love the colours 🙂
OMG! That door is the coolest. Wonder what my husband would think if I did that to ours when I got home tonight 🙂

Hello,
I enjoyed your post.
I think you’d like the elegant simplicity of our removable photo wallpaper montages at WeMontage.
Cheers.
What a wonderful ideas ! You are the best 🙂
Can you tell me where the small side table next to the couch is from? The one with the white planter on it?
swoon! your office space is gorgeous. It truly looks like a space that promotes creativity and production. You added so many personal details and it just screams “elsie creates here” hee hee. Huge office inspo! thanks for sharing.
Your couch and coffee table are perfect!!

coffeeslag: lust, everything i need in my closet right now, thanks
Cute office! Where is the cabinet that houses your printer from?
xo Megan
Ah, it’s so gorgeous! You use colour so well. I really envy anyone who can use colour in their home to good effect – my entire house is neutral because I’m scared of being more adventurous with a colour palette. Don’t get my wrong, I love my neutrals but it must be so uplifting to work in a space like this!
oh my goodness! I couldnt be more jelly of your office If i tried hehe! I love all the colours and the half painted door looks amazing!

Your office is so happy and inspiring! 🙂 Love it!
I love how it doesn’t look like an office at all! It has everything it should have but still looks super cool and colorful! I love it.
I have the same printer *high five* Please, share with us your printing process, especially for scrapbooking. It would be such a life-saver post. I’ve wasted so much paper trying to print things in the proper size and urgh. Please.
Are you wearing Swedish Hasbeens? They are amazing!
Your office is just so colorful and inspiring. Dreaming one for mine too.
Love,
Janika
Great space Elsie. I love colour too, and contrast against white walls is fabulous, really allows your pieces to pop. I love the natural vibes your rooms have by including plants within your spaces. Very nice 🙂
I love this yellow door! (And the pineapple)
I love all of the pops of color. This would make me one happy worker!
I love how colorful the keys on your laptop are! May I ask where you got them?
They are from Etsy! 🙂 -Jacki
Rando question – but can I ask if you refinished your floors? If so – what stain did you use? Thanks boo!
Elsie is clearly good at mixing colors and prints together, her whole house is a mix of white airy spaces and huge bursts of color. Agree on the white walls as well, it’s so much easier to decorate when you know you have a white canvas behind than if you had to buy stuff that matched that chocolate wall.
Can you tell me where you got those binders? I love the spine labels!
So beautifully organized! I hope to get my office space like this one day.
Where/how have you got rainbow letters on your laptop? LOVE THEM! NEED THEM!
LOVE your office! Do you happen to have a source for the crafting cabinet under your printer? I can never find anything that will hold the 12×12 paper!
Love the whole space, and ESP that plant stand! Did you list the source here? I didn’t see it and am dying for it. Where did you find it?
This is my dream work place! I love the bright colors in the white space. And the door is something I never thought of doing. Love the studio! 🙂
This room makes me happy. Moving into a new place and extremely inspired to use a similar good vibe theme. Design role models.
Wow, what a beautiful creative space, I doubt I would get any work done there though – too busy admiring the space!!
Hi Elsie,
Would you please tell me about your multicoloured keyboard?!
Thanks!
What a GORGEOUS and inspiring space! I just love all the bright pops of color 🙂
Very inspiring!!!
You made it so beautiful, I love it all!
And the keyboard of your laptop is amazing! Are those stickers, where did you get them?
Love that yellow desk!
