Currently, we are starting the process of creating our own 'dream studio' in the back rooms of Red Velvet land. A magical place to sew, paint and create with racks of clothing and pretty supplies everywhere.
I have a vision of covering an entire wall with children's drawings of and about the Red Velvet shop (the above artwork is by Hope). If you have a little artist in your family, we'd love to see their work in our mailbox. Just have them draw something related to Red Velvet (fashion, cupcakes, craft, vintage etc…) and send it to our store!

I'm so excited about this fun little project! We'll be sure to post lots of photos after our wall is completed. PS. be sure each piece is signed by the little artist! ;)
Designing my new dream studio is the last of my 4 Simple Goals before the new year! How are you doing with your goals? Xo. elsie

I haven’t met my goals this year 🙁
I wanted to start my own online biz, but I haven’t found the time or inspiration (for a name). It’s quite frustrating.
Reading your blog gives me some motivation though! I love how the store looks 🙂
this is such a cute idea!!……+ I know a certain Miss 8 who will LOVE it!!
Very cute idea, nothing like artwork by kiddo’s!! Can’t wait for some sneak peeks!! Happy Tuesday!
Oh I wish my kids were older!! Can I send you a picture? It would pretty much look like a little kid created it! I am in love with your shop and dream of someday doing a little road trip out to see you there in Ohio!
I have two little ladies who are excited about sending their artwork to a special place!
Very cool idea! My girls will love to contribute! Their Gpa used to live in Springfield (he was an ROTC instructor at the college), too bad he is not still there, we’d love to come visit the shop!
I just wanted to stop by to say hi, Elsie! And tell you that I saw you and Emma at Target this weekend. I adore your matching gold sparkly TOMS. 🙂 I was going to stop you to say hi and let you know I was a blog reader but I was already in line and didn’t want to bother you. Hope you found what you were looking for!
That’s a fantastic idea! Do you plan to eventually hold classes in the space? Good luck with the kiddie art wall-I may have to have my niece and nephew send you something!

Have you ever thought of hosting a ticketed dress-up party for girls 6-9 or older? You could use some of your less treasured dresses or items you get that you might eventually donate. Pepper in some activities along with dress-up, like: decorate cupcakes, do a craft, scrap booking, learn some vintage dance moves. Or maybe a store sleep-over! I am the Kid’s Event Coordinator at an indie bookstore and we do Princess Parties, Fairy Parties, Mermaid Parties and they are always a BIG hit. Plus you have lots of great pals to help you out with the different features which would make it a very unique product!
Like Carly, I also was wondering if you are planning to hold classes in your “dream studio”. I love it when stores offer special events like that, and with your talents and ideas, I’m sure you would get plenty of interest! 🙂
I did a post updating how I’m doing on my goals!
