Hi, it’s Amber & Kevin from Enjoy Cupcakes. We’re here to share with you a…Fall inspired “Build It” Cupcake Topping Bar, with numerous DIY concepts infused throughout the post. All photography by Jennifer Young. We love Jennifer’s style and wanted to collaborate with her on something & this gave us the perfect opportunity to connect!
We frosted cupcakes with a just a ring of frosting so the toppings could fill the holes in the middles.
We filled vintage syrup dispensers with gooey toppings & sauces. We used mostly house-made sauces like blackberry syrup, chocolate sauce, vanilla bean caramel, blackberry syrup, & berry curd, however sauces can also be store bought. Funky vintage syrup dispensers are prevalent at most antique stores, but you can also find inexpensive new containers at restaurant supply stores (i.e. Smart & Final).
We labeled the syrup dispensers with handmade flavor cards, using ribbons, buttons, fabric trim, simple embroidery, scrapbook paper & fabric scraps. We used hemp thread & ribbons to hang some of the cards from the actual containers and cut slits in pumpkins to hold the other cards.
Mini hallowed out pumpkins served as “bowls” filled with pomegranate seeds, berries, chopped nuts, white chocolate chips & sprinkles, accented with delicate silver spoons.
A vintage industrial drawer (found on Etsy) was a “stand” for the sauces and the drawers were will filled with berries (more topping options!).
Fall tablescape décor tips:
The “build it” banner was so simple to make. We gathered extra burlap & old house paint we had on hand and then bought some large stencils. Here’s how easy it is to make the banner…Secure the burlap tightly down on all four corners over wood or cardboard (push pins work well). Then place your stencils and tape down on all four corners. Use a sponge brush to “dab” the paint on. Let dry & remove the stencils.
I wanted all the floral arrangement elements to be readily accessible and have a “Pop” of fragrance so we used mint, basil, rosemary, purple fox tail, wheat, straw, flowers from the farmer’s Market & local grocery stores. We hallowed out pumpkins and used those as some of the vases.
Bookends can act as napkin holders.
Thank you so much, Amber and Kevin! Your tablescape is lovely and inspiring. I’m in love with the details! Thanks for being a part of 12 Days of Tricks + Treats! You’re magical. XO. elsie
