During the fall and winter months you can often find me in a chambray, plaid or flannel button up shirt. That is my go-to outfit. I love how you can layer them over skirts or jeans. And when it's cold long sleeves are a must (I hate getting my short sleeves all bunch up in my winter coat). So I've been on the hunt for a few more button ups.
This shirt is very much inspired by this shirt from Free People. I saw it in their fall catalog. My goal wasn't really to create something that looked EXACTLY the same. But it did inspire the idea of replacing the back of a button up with a bandana. This was perfect for this particular vintage shirt I had, because it had some large rips in the back.
Cut out the back of your shirt. We cut along the seams, using them as a guide. Now use the cut out peice as a pattern for the bandana, leaving 1/2 inch extra around the edges (seam allowance). Pin the bandana in place and stitch it back together. Easy as pie!
I kept the colors pretty matchy matchy but it could be really fun to use a brightly colored bandana for a cute pop of color on the back. But you do as will. π xo. Emma
