Hey, friends! I’m so excited to share this super easy idea with you today! I’m not going all out with holiday decor this year. With renovating, travel and work I just don’t have the extra time/$$$/energy to go full force. Can anyone relate? But that doesn’t mean I can’t do a couple super special holiday projects.
And for the record, I would definitely file a disco ball wreath under “super special”. Ummm…it’s my family heirloom!
You wanna make one too?
Supplies:
-wreath form *rant on choosing the right wreath form below
–silver tinsel garland x2 (Get the fluffiest one they have!)
–mini disco ball ornaments (The number you use will depend on the size of your wreath. Use your best judgement, and if you end up with extras, they look cute in a bowl on your coffee table!)
-hot glue gun and sticks
*Crazy story! I made this wreath, broke it into 5 pieces and made it all AGAIN…My floral foam wreath form broke, so the second one I made was with a straw wreath form. It came wrapped in plastic and I just left the plastic on it and went from there! Don’t take plastic off unless you want to be sweeping up annoying pieces of straw for all eternity!
(Sorry, guys! I accidentally deleted my step photos. But it’s so freaking easy I’m not going to bother retaking them. You got this!)
Instructions:
1. Use hot glue to wrap your wreath form in silver tinsel garland. Make sure it is completely covered with garland.
2. Remove the hook part from the ornaments (mine snapped right off) and glue them all over the wreath, randomly! Repeat until it looks A-MAZING.
A note about shopping—you can find these supplies at most craft stores. You can also find all this stuff on Amazon (just search “mini disco balls” or “disco ball ornament”). The ones I used are about two inches. I’d go for that size or a little smaller, but probably not bigger unless you are making a GIANT wreath.
Here’s a photo of the first wreath (actually right AFTER it broke in half).
Even though I was bummed BIG TIME over breaking the wreath, it was worth it for this photo. :))
I’m so so excited about this wreath!
Now, can someone come tell my husband that this would look really reeeaally cute on our pink front door? (He’s still stalling on his final FINAL approval of my color choice and it’s killing my soul). LOVE YOU GUYS! Hope your December is so warm and so cozy. xx- Elsie

How frustrating about the first wreath! But you got a sweet picture out of it, and…I think the second one came out even cuter! 🙂 Way to go for waiting for his ok – no door color (even pink!) would be worth the bad vibes if he didn’t like it, too!
Disco balls aren’t something I’d ever think about decorating with, but I LOVE this wreath. Like, LOVE LOVE it! I may have to try this DIY 🙂
This turned out so good! What a great idea!
I am in love with this!!!
Okay I love this! I think I would want to keep it up all year though!

I love this post! I dunno just the way it’s written (“I’m not retaking the photos. You got this!” ha!!!) is so great.
Also love how the disco balls are picking up your teal floor! Yay!
BEAUTIFUL! Love anything with disco balls! I have one hanging over my claw foot tub 🙂
I’ve got a plan. You send me that delightful disco ball wreath, and I’ll put it on MY pink panther pink front door!! Problem solved. 🙂
So fun! I have a pom-pom tree and this would definitely match.
This looks so gorgeous! A fun twist on the traditional wreath.

Oh yeah! Of course! :))
He is cool with the pink door. But where we disagree is he wants to wait until we paint the exterior of our house (planning to paint it white next year, it’s mixed brick now) and I think there’s no reason to wait.

Thanks Amanda!! You should do it! It’s so fun.

Target has the exact silver tinsel wreath, for $8, making another would be a snap!
Hi Elsie,
Love the wreath!! And that it reflects your amazing teal floor!!
So, front door color–not to sound all zen-like, etc. but–check out/search: fend shui front door paint colors. You probably know all that fend shui chi theory, but in case you haven’t stood in your new front door with your compass app open, give it a try! It might help you win your color argument (internally or with your husband). I mean, we ALL want good energy flow, no? And if you want to paint it now as opposed to waiting, the good energy argument will surely sway him. ?
Happy holidays!
Hi Elsie
I too am neck high in toddlers, home renovation and book edits so off my game with regards to Christmas this year. I have no oven so am making curry for Christmas day but next year I plan to go all out.
Readily awaiting your after pics. I am hoping to reveal 3 rooms in the new year, all being well (finger crossed).
Happy holidays x
This wreath is amazing! I love it!

I got them from Hobby Lobby. They’re tiny foam balls covered in small sequins.

The second wreath came out so much cuter than the first one! I think the form snapping in half was meant to be 😉 Also I’m dying to have a pink door. Tell him everyone’s gonna have one eventually and you just want to be first 😉
Definitely super special. Love it!
I had no idea pink doors were a thing – I just read this post a few months ago and now yours… maybe this will help with your inspiration.

I hope the final FINAL approval came successfully, because I think this wreath was meant to climb a pink door and I can’t wait to see that picture too!!Nice work!!
That photo of you guys with Dolly and Suki (is that your pug’s name? Or am I getting confused with Emma’s dogs?) is SO precious. I couldn’t love it more if I tried!
xoxo
I think this would love amazing with a gold tinsel as well (gold and silver) or a any contrasting tinsel for that matter. It might make the disco balls POP!
This is so gloriously festive!! I love an over the top wreath
I made one recently covered in pompoms 🙂

I had my dad (who is a paint contractor) paint our front door pink one day while my husband was on tour. My husband had agreed to it a while back, maybe thinking I wouldn’t get around to it? lol Both he and my dad who were skeptical at first wound up liking the pop of color and how it brightened our whole front porch. I am still in LOVE with it. I hope you can talk him into it, bc it really makes me smile every time I see it!
Awww, really like the sweet family pic with the dogs in the middle :).
How long did it take you to make one of these?
Lovely job of your wreath, I made two recently using a wire coat hanger & threading the balls onto it. It turned out brilliantly! No hot glue involved… Kids could help with this project..

What size straw wreath did you use?
