I was inspired by my sister's latte syrups. So, like any good little sister, I decided to make some too. ๐ I happened to have some left over rosemary in my refrigerator and so I decided to try a rosemary latte. I had never had one before but I love the smell and taste of rosemary. I have been obsessed with making homemade lattes after getting an espresso maker for Christmas.
First I made a rosemary and honey syrup.
1 cup water
1/2 cup honey
2 sprigs of fresh rosemary.
Bring the water and honey to a boil while stirring to dissolve the honey. Turn the heat down to a simmer and add the rosemary sprigs. Let this cook down for 10-12 minutes until the mixture has thicken some. Remove from heat and allow to cool before use.I still have a ways to go with my latte making skills. But I must say that a rosemary latte is my new favorite! I love how the syrup turned out the perfect amount of sweet and savory without being too overpowering. I store my syrup in the refrigerator and will probably use most of it up within two weeks. Oh, and do you see how there is a rosemary sprig in the bottle? I just added that for aesthetics. It's not really necessary, so if you create this at home feel free to leave it out if you wish. Happy morning coffee! xo. Emma

I’m not a big coffee drinker (actually none at all, hate the smell and the taste), but I can picture the honey-rosemary-taste in my hot milk. I’ll definitely give it a try soon.

Ok, it sounds gross to me for coffee, but I bet it is great in a green tea!

my curiosity is up so I must try it soon! ๐

This is really cool, & the sprig looks cute inside the bottle. Would be a good gift for a housewarming, too.
This is unique I love it! I usually just buy pre-made syrups but you girls have inspired me to make some of my own and use some of my starting to wilt, herbs in the garden!
Also just incase you were interested I recently did a post on my blog about Becoming a Home Barista, it’s full of tips for using an expresso machine which you may find useful:

I LOVE rosemary in sweet stuff. (Lavendar too… but that’s probably more common, right?) Rosemary in shortbread cookies is fab.
I can’t wait until summer and I can have an herb garden – these syrup recipes have started a serious hankering!
So cute! Love the rosemary garnish, it’s a great touch.

At first when I read ‘rosemary latte’ I was a little surprised in the flavor combination, but now that I think about it, if it’s combined with honey, it must be delicious. I think this would be even better with a few grates of fresh ginger!

Rosemary in a latte sounds a little strange, but good and savory at the same time!
Lovely idea! I am totally smitten with anything rosemary and recently had a lovely rosemary creme brulee!

Yummy! That looks so good, I’ve gotta try this!
I need to try to make my own syrup. I have some mint in the fridge that is starting to look a bit sad. I think it would be awesome to mix mint syrup with hot chocolate.
Rosemary syrup is also wonderful in fresh lemonade!
Thank you so much for this recipe! Look, I was seriously wishfully imaginging it: http://jessieammons.blogspot.com/2013/01/lavendaah-lievendur.html

This is actually surprisingly delicious. The rosemary and honey flavors are subtle and compliment the espresso. I don’t have an espresso machine so I made a Turkish latte instead. Thanks for the constant inspiration!
Would this taste ok just in regular coffee for those of us without an espresso machine?
Liz- absolutely!
These syrups are perfect for any tea of coffee drink or even a lot of cocktails. :))
It’s up to us little sisters to copy everything the older does….even when we’re all grown up, haha! Love this idea! Thanks for sharing, lattes are my favorite!
