Sometimes good things come out of being lazy. For example, I was trying to get our studio living room ready for its room tour (yay!), but our simple white mirror looked a bit dull against the plain white wall. I thought maybe it could benefit from some stripes, but the idea of pulling out all the paint and taping off the necessary areas sounded like a bit of a chore at the moment. Then I thought, "Hello! Washi tape!" and my stripe problem was solved.
Once I wrapped the tape around the back side of the frame, I just used an X-Acto knife to trim the excess on the inside. If you're worried about the ends pulling up, just use a bit of glue to tack them down for good.
This mirror is definitely getting into the spirit of the rest of the room now! Bring on the color! xo. Laura

Really love this ideia.
washi tape is my new obsession. I had to ban myself from the craft store at one point because I would dominate the clearance section and come home with bags of washi tape. Yay for me, not for my wallet lol.
the mirror looks so colorful and beautiful!
This turned out stunningly! Washi tape is a godsend for DIY projects. Even if you’re not very crafty, it can work wonders π

Thank you for an awesome idea! I have a bathroom with an unframed mirror and I’ve been putting off trying to do one of those frame it yourself DIYs, but this I can do!!!
Great idea! The washi tape makes the room look fun, cheerful, & bright! Happy Monday, Laura π

This craft looks like so much fun! Plus, it’s easy AND relatively mess free! Not to mention that I love washi tape! A cheeky question: will you be carrying these cool washi tapes in your new store? π
Xx, Marketa
I love washi tape! And this DIY, of course. <3
Beautiful, Laura! I’ve been adding washi tape in lots of places lately too. Where have you found the wider tape?
Looks really cute! Great idea! π

I adore this! I have some washi tape I used in my dorm room, but it would be a cute look for my new painted bedroom, too.
Warm Regards,

Cool & customizable. I like how you varied the thickness of the tapes.:] // http://www.itscarmen.com βΌ β―
This looks so amazing and reminds me of my favorite striped toe-kick in Oh Joy’s office designed by Emily Henderson.
I have a very plain mirror in my hallway that will be getting this treatment right away. Thanks for the inspiration!
This looks so cute, such a clever idea x

So fun, easy and pretty!!! Love your collection of washi tape!
How fun! It would be really easy to change out if you wanted to change up the colors. Great idea!
Love that idea! Even more impressed by your washi tape collection!
This is gorgeous! And so simple! I think it would also look great with a frameless mirror and then you could create a frame around the edges with the tape.
Totally going to do this for the frame around my pinboard in my office (do I sound *really* old saying ‘pinboard’???!!!!! Even the auto-spellchecker told me there’s no such word!!!!)
What a fun, easy idea!

Soβ¦.what I want to know–did it actually save time to use the tape rather than paint? π
That looks amazing! What kind of tape did you use and where did you get it? I have a white mirror that can definitely use redecorating
Really nice! I also tried it with painting: http://rivereine.wordpress.com/2014/08/18/customized-mirror/
It’s a mix of both in town stores (like Michaels and Hobby Lobby) and online shopping (usually on Amazon lately) but we do have quite the collection!
Laura π
I would do an online search if you don’t see any in a local craft store (I’m not sure yet if our upcoming store will have wide versions right away), I think the ones we have are about 2″ wide π
Laura
Oh, no doubt! I’m a perfectionist, so painting stripes takes me forever!!
Laura π
We get them from local craft stores as well as Etsy and Amazon. Just search it online if you don’t see what you want at a local store π

I love this idea! I recently started collecting washi tape too, and working at a craft store just adds to my addiction of buying them! They’re great for decorating almost anything that it could adhere to. Your frame turned out amazing!
This is such a great idea! I’ve always loved those tapes, but I never thought I had any reason to actually use them.
