I’ve always wanted to try vodka soaked gummy bears ever since seeing them on Pinterest. To be honest, I was a little scared that it was too good to be true. Would the gummies get all sticky or giant and weird? Plus all of the instructions on Pinterest are different. Reading through the search you’ll see people recommending they soak for an hour, a day,Β and a week. That’s crazy different, right? Well, we tried it and here’s what we learned…
The method we chose to try was soaking the gummy bears (and worms) for about 24 hours. We tried three different types of alcohol- apple vodka, coconut rum and watermelon vodka. We poured the alcohol over the gummy candy until it was completely immersed. Then we covered it in plastic wrap and popped it in the fridge for 24 hours. The next day the gummies had soaked up most the alcohol, there was only a little bit to strain out. If we had left them in for 48 hours they probably would have soaked it all in.
The bears tasted amazing. They weren’t sticky or gross at all, but we did use a spoon to put them on our plates. Our favorite flavors were the apple vodka and coconut rum. I noticed that the gummy worms weren’t as soft. I have seen that you can try this method with nearly any liquor and any gummy candy, so the possibilities are pretty cool!
Have you ever tried alcohol soaked gummy candy? What do you think, delicious or weird? They were a HUGE hit at Emma’s bachelorette party!
Bachelorette party photos coming soon! xoxo. elsie

But the question is: how many do you have to eat to get happy?
Happiness comes from within, they say
made these with bacardi razz. SO good.
This sounds divine and thanks for sharing!! ::)
^^^ditto to the question above^^^ π
These look yummy!!! May have to give this a try!

Looks yummy but I don’t drink vodka :/
Yum!! Can’t wait to try these!
It’s now a Thanksgiving tradition with my family…we’ve experimented with rum (mostly so you can call them “rummy gummys”) and vodka as well as different shapes of gummies. Gummy Dinos were the most fun to eat and vodka (fruity flavors especially) definitely makes the best ones.
ugh i’ve had these at parties before…such a horrible sticky mess!!
Sounds good to me! And super easy!
i will be trying this when I am of legal drinking age!
for now, I am craving gummy bears.

Looks amazing! I can’t wait to see bachelorette photos – it’s nice to see options that aren’t too crazy. For mine I opted for the ’80s glam night at beauty bar lol
I love gummy bears with a bite of chocolate. I have an addiction to mounds bars with a gummy bear chaser. have to try gummy bears with coconut flavored rum oh la lah
I’ve always wanted to try them!! Thanks for the tips π Looks delicious!

um… this is a ridiculously good idea.
I made them for a party and left some liquor (I used tequila) to serve them in shots with a little gummy bear in it, it was delicious.
We did these for a faculty event in college and they were amazing even though they turned out a bit squishy!
Oh my gosh. You just blew my mind with this! So amazing!
looks delicious! x

I’ve been obsessed about this idea ever since I saw it on Pinterest too! I haven’t had the courage to do it because I was afraid they’d taste bad π but you convinced me

How strong do these taste? I don’t really like the taste of vodka however I can drink it with most mixers if they’re sweet enough! π
We call them Rummy Bears! I had a batch once that had soaked for a week in plain vodka and they were no bueno. They just tasted like slimy, chewy vodka pieces. Your flavored alcohol + 24-hr method seems better! I’ll be making a batch of these when I get back to America in a week!
I’ve been on a weird gummy bear kick this week– made chocolate covered ones yesterday π So THIS is perfect! <3
That’s such a cool idea! I wonder what it tastes like

Wow, these look amazing! Can’t wait to try it! Thanks for sharing. π
I would love to give this a try! I’m also wondering just how much you can eat before you get a sufficient buzz. Good for tricking friends too perhaps? π
Ha ha, I love Carina’s question: How many do you have to eat to get happy?
Here in Belgium we put a candy called “fraises Tagada” (http://chezvicky.be/files/2009/08/40-ans-fraise-tagada.jpg) into Vodka, but the result is quite different: it’s the candy that melts in the alcohol. The result is quite sweet and syrupy but delicious!
You gave me the idea to blog on http://www.designpill.net about it. Will do that soon.
I never ever would have thought of this but what a fun idea! xx

These are such fun! I’m thinking up all these fun possibilities for this now!

These sound super fun and delicious. They are sure to be a crowd pleaser.

Just fyi, this is actually something scary going on in high schools. Parents think their kids are just eating gummy bears…
This is such a neat idea! Is there an non acholic verison of these?
Alcohol free would be not soaking them in alcohol, LOL. Just had to comment to this
weird π sounds really weird!
I can’t believe that these would be any good, so I have to try.. I think π
every year on the RIVER! they are perfect for a long tubing trip! I do apple vodka and strawberry with gummy bears and worms.
My boyfriend told me about the time he made these for a party. Lets say that everyone underestimated the power of the vodka soaked gummies :oP
i’ve don this with skittles before. Great results!

I’d love to do this with something other than vodka I think – vodka has such a harsh after taste I find it hard to stomach even in delicious gummy form.

ohhh so fun! And so weird that they soak it up π

We had these at my bachlorette and appropriately named “Bad News Bears”
So good!
Love how you can try them with any liquid! That idea is just limitless! Got my brain juices flowing now π So much fun!
Those gummy bears look like the perfect summer snack to me!
and how drunk did you all get? these could be dangerously good at a party π

Yum! I’ve always loved gummy bears but adding alcohol to them is a brilliant idea!
Mmmmmmm, sounds yummy! Yet another recipe to try!
I love this idea! I’m going to try it at my annual Halloween party with worm, rat and other assorted “spooky” gummys. Thanks for this! -Marie Vlasic theyearoflivingfabulously.com
Works well with watermelon too! π
So my colleagues and I have been thinking of ways to snuck booze into the office and you just provided the answer. No one will ever know. Thank you girls.

Rummy bears are my favorite tailgate + potluck treat to make! I’ve tried worms before, but find the bears soak and stick better.
We use Malibu rum and stir the bears every few hours for a day or so. I also recommend bringing those little Dixie cups (for mouthwash) as serving scoops. No mess π
Wow!! hahaha Wanna try them!! π

I love this idea and can’t wait to try it out myself (and by that I mean with a bunch of my friends). Can’t wait to see more from the bachelorette party and from the wedding! π
wow that’s an awesome idea! π
oh my, i need to try this! x
Sounds amazing. Maybe I should try that this summer with some Malibu or maybe some flavoured Vodka. Thanks for sharing this with us.
i hope your incredible creativity never comes to an end

I was at a party once where they served fresh cherries soaked in vanilla vodka. So delicious! I’m not sure how long they need to soak, and I’ve not tried making them myself —- yet.
But, it would be another fun experiment!
i tried these for a girls’ night out to the movies (eat/drinking in the theater!)… make sure you refrigerate them during soaking! the directions i followed did not include that very important part, and my gummies ended up melting into each other, creating a giant, multicolored blob of liquor.
i still ate them with a spoon, though. π
Thanks for sharing! I always default to jello shots for parties.. I definitely thought that alcohol soaked gummies would be weirdly sticky and messy. Good to know I was wrong. I can’t wait to try some now.
MY GOODNESS, what a GREAT idea! I’m trying this for sure!

My friend once tried tequila gummy worms. Apparently they just turned into one giant overly tequila glob.
I bet yours were way better:)

I love this! every time I throw a party I make this. Actually my brother’s high school graduation was on Saturday and we made this.
High school graduations are very different form proms in the States. Our parents, aunts and uncles, sometime even our grandparents attend and we invite other friends. There is a three or four course dinner served at 11.00pm, there is a lot of dancing and different kinds of drinks. Another meal is served at 3.00 or 4.00 (normally very spicy chilaquiles) and then the after party (this is only for the graduates) starts at 5.00 am and ends at around 10.00am. My borther’s graduation was really big. His graduation class was made up of 45 students and there where about 1,500 guests. Although there are much bigger graduations. My cousins graduating class was made up of 402 students and there where more than 2,500 guests.
I have no idea why I just told you all this but in case you were wondering how “proms” in Guadalajara MΓ©xico work, this is the answer.
Hugs!
wow, it never even occurred to me that this was even a thing, i HAVE to try it now.
I think this is freakin’ awesome! Just don’t let the kiddies get near them!!! Hahaha.

IΒ΄ve never heard of vodka/alcohol soaked gummy candy. But I will try it for sure, summer partys are coming now – one after another.
We’ve tried it, and it was great! The only problem is that you can get REALLY drunk because they taste so good and it is hard to restrain yourself π
We did this once and it was a great time! Until I had one too many… They are good but can be dangerous haha!
If you have a chance, both readers, emma, and elsie, please check out this fashion film that I did on my last trip to Dubai! It features the very talented Chicago designer, Nelissa Carrillo, and her new collection. Love every second of it and I hope that you do too! Let me know what you think π Best, C
And, of course, congratulations Emma!
That’s pretty amazing – and the perfect thing to have at a party!

Swedish fish soaked in vodka were probably the grossest thing I’ve ever eaten. The outside of the gummy got mealy – not a good texture. We had them at a bachelorette party and one of the games turned into taking a picture of each person as they experienced a “boozy fish” for the first time. No one looked happy.
I’m so happy you tried this out! I too have been seeing them all over Pinterest and when people said it took a week I was immediately turned off. I’ll have to go and get some gummy bears (vodka already in stock!) and give it a try this weekend.
Also, GREAT idea for a Bachelorette party.
Kindness is the best accessory,
Rebecca
I have tried vodka soaked skittles and they completely dissolve to leave you with skittle flavoured vodka. It is deadly and goes down way too easily. If you don’t want a brown mess though, separate the colours, which gives you cool colour combos to play with!
That looks just so good! We tried peach schnapps in peach rings for my 21st birthday – the were kind of weird, but I think that we need to soak them a little more. Thanks for the suggestions and trying them a little differently, this will definitely be helpful when I get back to school!

Haha, what a fun little project. Would be fun for a birthday party or get together π I wonder if it works with other gummies too?!

I really want to try swedish fish but fear they are too stiff!!
Ik heb het nog nooit op, maar zie het steeds vaker voorbij komen dus wil het zeker een keer proberen!
This is GENIUS! Am making these this weekend, but wish I didn’t have to wait that long.
Ok. I have a warning. WATCH OUT. I know out of experience that some people can’t resist these gummybears and end up puking on the floor. Luckily, it wasn’t me who did that. Though it could be anyone.
This sounds so cool!!! I have to try this next time we have girls night out! π
<3,
http://marsqn.blogspot.com
Yes! I make them for every family event and holiday! They are always a hit- but I always have to bring a clearly labled “virgin” bowl for the little ones π
I let mine soak for a few days, and- if refrigerated- they can last for months and months. I’ve always used super cheap plain vodka like Viaka and McCormicks, and they always taste fine- really good actually- BUT I’m sure that using the flavored liquors would taste even better!
Isn’t it a great fun and silly recipe?! One of Pinterest’s best and easiest.
-Sarah at Come Undone
i am trying this for a house party for sure!
I tried this last year and it was a disaster! I put gummy bears in vodka and they got smaller and smaller as they dissolved!
Sounds delicious *hunts around in the cupboard for gummy bears and vodka*

HAHA jell-o-vodka to go!
some years ago, my friend Yak and I used to go to this night club that was in the middle of a park, and pretty far away from any bar to make a pre-party in, so we used to buy cold beer in a kinda-close gas station and pre-party on a bench nearby the club.
one night we were pretty broke, and the only thing i had at home was a bottle of absolut, but i was not carrying the whole bottle, and i wasn’t up for making jello, there was no time. next thing we knew: i poured some absolut in a tupperware, picked up Yak from our meeting corner, passed by a gas station and bought 5 packages of gummy bears. best boost ever. absolut gummy bears became a tradition with us <3
I only worry about kids eating these ‘by accident’! For adults, they sound good!
My roommates and I tried this…and the gummy bears dissolved into the alcohol so that we just had a bowl of gummy vodka and no bears. We tried it twice. I’m not sure what went wrong.
Hi! I have never seen those on pinterest and oh my god I just need to try this right now.
Olive xox
One of my BFFs does rum-soaked jelly babies – giving them a week to soak up the alcohol (& maybe, ahem, topping it up a bit!)
Katie x
Rum soaked gummy bars are a must at house parties, as well as jello shoots. Absolutely love them!
I made it few times and I have to admit i’m kind of obssessed with it ! I love it so muuuuch ! I only made it with vodka without flavour so thanks for the idea, seems delicious too ! And I agree, worms are not as soft as gummy bears !!
I made these once for a camping trip. They were gone in an hour! So easy and so much fun.
beyondcookiecutter.blogspot.com
ok i tried this last night and my gummie worms and bears melted what did i do wrong all i did was place the worms in a bowl and poured rum on them i left them on the table maybe that i did not place in frig
Wow!! I’m guessing the ‘bite’ of the alcohol would be balanced out by the sweetness of the gummy bears. Will definitely be trying this π
Well this is the best thing I’ve seen on the internet in a long time.
Try them with raspberry sour puss. You will not regret it
