Currently my favorite cocktail is a homemade whiskey lemonade. The first time I made one I was just mixing available ingredients for a quick, low sugar cocktail. And I accidently fell in love. This cocktail is everything I love: simple, tart and lightly sweet with just the right amount of booziness. Emma says it reminds her of a giant sidecar. :)
First you'll need lots of lemons. I use two lemons for each medium sized drink. You gotta make fresh lemon juice too. I love juicing citrus by hand. It's strangely satisfying.
Whisky Lemonade with Honey. Serves one.
2 tablespoons whiskey (I like Maker's Mark)
juice of two fresh lemons
club soda
honey simple syrup
sweetened lime juice
In a medium size glass combine 2 tablespoons whiskey, juice of two fresh lemons, ice then fill the rest of the glass with club soda. Add honey simple syrup to taste. If you're not a big fan of honey use regular simple syrup. Add a splash of sweetened lime juice and garnish with a fresh lemon.
Note: If you've never made your own simple syrups I shared how here. These syrups are great for anything from coffees and tea to cocktails!Enjoy this refreshing, citrus cocktail! xo. Elsie

This looks delicious! Where did you get the mint juicer?
Kayleigh, I got it from Fishs Eddy. :))
The real question is: Where can I buy/make the tea towel or napkin in these photos?
This reminds me of a drink that I fell in love with last month in Sacramento. It is Jack Daniels Tennessee Honey with lemonade and a splash of Sprite. SO good and not too sweet.
Taryn, It’s from Target. 🙂
This is why I love your blog – just the right mix of crafts and cocktails 🙂

Anything with whiskey! Yum. I also prefer to squeeze citrus by hand, even having a special attachment for my juicer. I just like to crush all the delicious out of them, like you said, it’s satisfying!
Oh man – have to try this. Have whiskey handy, honey, soda and a lemon tree in my yard! It’s meant to be 😉

A yellow cocktail! Yeah! I have been unable to drink whiskey for a while but maybe it would be ok with lemon goodness… Definitely worth a try!
We actually served this exact drink at our wedding last April. We threw a splash of amaretto in there, too, just for fun. Delish.
Yum! Was just thinking this past weekend that I do need another fun cocktail to add to the current repertoire…this one sounds light and perfect, thanks Elsie!

That looks delicious! I love that it is made with so many fresh lemons. Luckily I just found out that they sell them for only 37 cents each at Walmart 🙂

Yum! And on a completely unrelated note, I love your nail color! 🙂
Ummm, so… I’m reading blogs on my lunchbreak and am now madly wanting a whiskey lemonade!
When you say ‘sweetened limejuice’ is that a commercially available drink or a cordial/syrup?
Yum! So unique!

Whenever I see a cocktail I want to try out, I always go to work and convince one of my bar regulars to let me make it for them! I might have to do that tomorrow when I go in, regarding this cocktail. 🙂
If you’ve never made home-made sweetened lime juice before, it’s really, really easy! Just equal parts fresh lime juice and simple syrup. Way tastier than Rose’s.
This recipe looks so crisp and light! My husband has been wanting to try whiskey more here and there, so I think I will have to give this recipe a try. =)
Looks delicious!

I just made something similar that turned out to be my new favorite cocktail! It’s less of a lemonade/more of a stiff drink: bourbon, lavender simple syrup, fresh squeezed lemon juice, and cynar.

The man loves all your drinks. Just saying ^_^
I made this tonight and it was delish! I didn’t want to make the honey simple syrup so just poured simple syrup and honey in it. Don’t so this, the honey hardens and doesn’t absorb into the drink. But all in all, very good drink. Thank you Elsie!
I’m too young to drink, but these pictures are gorgeous!

Cannot wait for it to be a bit more spring like here so that I can give it a go. I don’t think even that concoction could make today feel bright and sunny!
Today is more of a hot chocolate and brandy kinda day.
Hm! This one seem very delicious!! 😀
This will be my new summer time adult beverage. The end 😉
Yummy!!Lemon and honey, this just sounds great!
Need to try this one!
