If you've been reading for very long, you probably remember when we started sharing a few of our workday outfits in a feature we call "Work Wears" last year (see the archives here). We thought we'd spruce this feature up a little for 2015 and share two to three outfits from our week with you in each post. So here goes nothing…
I like having a long sleeve shirt or jacket handy at the office because sometimes I get cold. It's a well-heated space, I think I'm just cold-blooded I guess.
I also have to point out my shirt—my good friend, Mallory, made it and I love it. She's awesome. You might remember Mallory from way back when she interned with us. And now she makes and sells her own independent clothing line. Go Mallory!
Outfit: Boots/BC Footwear from ModCloth, tights/Target, skirt and flannel shirt/F21, t-shirt/Mallory.
I'm currently really into over-sized shirts or sweaters with leggings, so cozy. I must admit though that I would consider these shoes more "date night" shoes than office wear. I like them with this outfit though, so I wore them. But I also had brought a pair of flats to the office as well because I knew I wasn't going to be at my desk all day. I did a little work in the wood shop (working on some bookends I'll hopefully share with you soon!), and I did some work in the kitchen too.
One thing I worked on was a blueberry cake donut with a crumb topping (like a muffin). The first round that I made turned out OK in the taste/texture department but was very, well, ugly. We passed them around the office, but I'll be working on this some more before it will be something I'd share with you. It's just not quite there yet.
Also, this batter sort of matched my outfit that day. So… that's cool.
Outfit: Blouse and Shoes/Half of Half (it's a discount/final sale type store in our town), Leggings/F21, glasses/A Beautiful Mess for BonLook.
I actually wore these boots three times during this week. I love them! This is also what I do with my hair when I just can't get it to do anything else. And now you know.
Outfit: Boots and Scarf/ ModCloth, Pants/James Jeans, Tops/H&M.
Thanks for letting me share some peeks of my week with you. Hope you are having an awesome week! xo. Emma

I love the third outfit! I’m such a fan of a little touch of leopard print. I totally consider it a neutral. I’ve been meaning to get some colorful skinnies too. Looks like I need to go shopping….darn.
The shoes you were with the blue oversized shirt/dress are amazing! I wish you showed us a close-up of them. They may not be perfect for the office, but definitely “date night” material. Great looks!

Really like this type of post, it’s pretty interesting to see what you guys wear normally and not just when you shoot sister style 🙂 Your style is quite different from mine but I still enjoy seeing “normal” every-day outfits 🙂
xo Kat
I love leopard too. I really don’t own that much of it currently, I feel like I’m always drawn to it when shopping or in other’s outfits. 🙂

I love your “don’t know what else to do” hair! It’s adorable! Malorlory’s line is has some great stuff; I especially love that Peony Dress.

I love the jacket, skirt & tee combo! I love to see other people’s work wears, lets me know that I’m not the only who isn’t boring 🙂

LOVE the white sweater with the wild print underneath – so cute!

yeah, I’ totally for tight leggings and oversize shirts. well, actually most of my tops are oversized, when i think about it. and I loveee those black shoes, so nice!
You look so great in all of these, but I think my favorite is the last outfit. I love the scarf in your hair and the way you’ve mixed and matched patterns.
Also, can I just say how validating it is to know that you have recipes that don’t come out exactly how you wanted too? THANK YOU! I really look up to you and your cooking, baking and photography skills, so it’s good to know that sometimes things just don’t work out the way you planned. I would love to see you do a “failed recipes” post about ones that just didn’t come together!

Those are such fun outfit ideas, I especially love coral pants with printed shirt and a sweater. So cute but not too sweet due to the bold print.
By the way, I’ve been thinking about shooting a few outfit photos in my place (as it’s super cold where I live so showing what’s underneath the coat outside is rather difficult), but I always worry that the setting will be boring. Yours is incredible http://stylestandpoint.com
love the one with the peach/coral bottoms! perfect with the animal print too. awesome looks! xx. gigi. http://www.gigikkitchen.com
Emma you look SO nice with your hair up and tied with a scarf!! 🙂
Anddd… Now I’m thinking about blueberry donuts.
I love the blue dress, really cute…are you guys competitive in the office with regards to what you wear?? ;))

I can’t get enough of your fashion trends! Glad you brought back work day outfit posts 🙂
I love these outfits. Especially the third. I think I could copy it with a great black shirt with white stars I have that I never know how to wear. Also, I really like how you’re adding more writing content to these types of posts. It makes it more interesting to read.
i absolutely love love loooove looove! that last look with the peach (?) colored pants. i seriously wish i had style like that!!!!
Those outfits are so full of color and I love everything about them!!! Beautiful!

So cute. I wish I could wear shoes like those beautiful platforms. I’m 5’11”, womp womp. No heals for me.
First off, I think your hair looks great tied up like that. It brings out your eyes! I laughed when you said, “And now you know.” The blue shirt is fantastic, and I agree with the whole legging/long t-shirt thing. I’d wear it every day if I could get away with it. (I can’t.) So comfortable, but not… sloppy. This is a great little series, as it feels like you’re giving us a snap shot of what it’s like behind the scenes at ABM, which makes everyone over there feel a little more human. 🙂 Thanks for sharing.

I love it Emma, especially the leather skirt in the second outfit! You look so comfortable and practical (I always bring flats when I wear heels like that…) but still really cute and put together! A+ !

I love the outfit with the slouchy sweater layer with the leopard print blouse. So chic!
The outfits are cute, but I love that blue couch! Is it comfy? I’m looking for a new one to replace the lazy boy recliner model we inherited from my boyfriends parents…
I love these posts! Thanks for sharing!
Love it! You incorporate color so well into your wardrobe.

You guys are my role models. You all inspire me everyday and it never fails that I check your site 2-3 times a day for new posts! I’m loving oversized shirts too! They’re so comfy! 🙂

I really liked this post! I love outfit-blogs, but sometimes I feel they are not very realistic (for me), not only that the clothes are expensive or so, but that the outfits aren’t really something i would wear for a normal day at the office. This was a great inspiration, more of this! 🙂
I absolutely love your hair up with the little scarf/headband! It’s a look I love but can’t really pull off (I feel like the back of my head is straight or something and it slips up!), and it looks fantastic on you!
always interesting to take a peak into others closet..this feature is nice.. love the blue & black.. and the white knit from h&m looks so comfy.. plaid and leather skirt, always a win!

Could those outfits be any cuter? I think my favorite has to be the one with coral jeans and leopard top underneath the sweater, I mayyyyy just try and re-create that look! :]

I’d like to see you do a post on Mallory and her shop!
I really love the peach pants outfit. What a beautiful photograph!!
The shoes look like Steve Maddens.just gorgeous! 🙂
Absolutely crushing on that leopard button-up. Leopard is my new neutral. haha.

Oh yes, I have failed recipes. I also have a lot of failed photos. For example, I think I took about 50 of each outfit you see in this post… but only showed you the very best one. I’m still getting the hang of using a shutter remote for sure. 🙂
-Emma
Ha! No. But only because Laura would always win.
-Emma
If I were 5’11” then I would never need heels—let’s freaky friday ourselves for a day?
-Emma
That’s a fun suggestion…. hmm…

I love the last outfit! It’s really fun and looks great on you!
cute, you look great!!

Love all of these!! You and Elsie are such an inspiration! Reading your book, Happy Handmade Home right now. Love!! ?
I love your style, Emma! I especially love the red plaid shirt. It gives the outfit a bit of a grungy/90s feel, which I’m obsessed with. 🙂

Oh my gosh the third outfit! If only I had some pale pink jeans. But I just have to ask – that hair tie thing: if I ever put anything hairband-ish in my hair it just slips off (I have very fine, straight, smooth hair). Do you pop little grips in to keep it on or do you have some other crazy secret?!
Love the outfits!!

I wish I looked this good everyday! fantastic color on you, that blue.
blogging in the morning, I have to remind myself to take a shower.

Oh, my goodness! I love your second outfit. It is such a perfect combination of dressy and casual. I will definitely have to check out your friend’s line! I did not read your blog while she worked with you but I am sure that her work is gorgeous. Have a lovely day!

I love this feature! I’m always curious where everyone’s clothes are from in your daily posts. 🙂
I love the subtle leopard print!
I loved the third outfit too! And I loved the way you had your hair up with that cute headband. We never would have known your hair secrets 😉
I love this post and like that it’s more of a week’s worth of work wear!
Love this new spin on the work wear post! The variety is inspiring, which is just what I need considering I work from home by myself. I was getting into a head-to-toe sweatsuit routine that was not pretty. Haha!
I’ve also noticed that since the new year has begun, I’ve been clicking through to many more of your posts from my blog reader. I’m not a DIY-er and like the fashion and personal-type posts best, so the changes you’ve made have hit a note with me. Subtle, but spectacular! 😉
Keep up the good work ladies!
Anneke
Love the idea of sharing a few at once! It’s so easy to get in a work wear rut, so it’s nice to see how other people dress for their work!
My favorite I outfit was number three I loved the peach pants and the pop of cheetah print! ❤️
