Fabric Fun

Fabric FunHi friends! We're teaming up with our friends over at Pentel again to bring you this fun little little video sharing two simple wearable DIYs that you can make with their Fabric Fun pastels. They have the look and feel of an oil pastel, but after you iron your design it becomes washable and permanent! Such a simple process. You just draw your design, place a blank sheet of regular printer paper over the design (really just any normal blank paper), and iron the design in place. All done!

Here are my two projects…This sweatshirt was made with fabric fun pastels. Just draw & iron! A simple heart sweater!

This scarf was made with fabric fun pastels. Just draw & iron! And a geometric scarf!

To see more and learn to make these projects watch the video:I've been making lists of all the handmade gifts I want to create for friends and family. Gotta start early! xo. Elsie

  • Your dog has great fashion sense. I’m adding some of these crayons to my wishlist. 🙂

  • What is the texture of the pastel after ironing and washing? Is it completely smooth or slightly raised?

  • It’s out of focus, but the label on the sweater looks like Mossimo– which is a Target brand. Very cute project.

  • I love how easy these fabric pastels are! And your videos are the best (including the music choices!). 🙂

  • This looks so incredibly fun! What a great way to customize your clothes! I am definitely trying this!

  • This is a really lovely project that will be perfect for the work I am doing with young children! I am an outdoor classroom teacher working with children ages 2-5 years old. Right now we are creating art that commemorates the monarch butterflies that visited our classroom in the early fall of this year. I can imagine the beautiful images of monarch butterflies and caterpillars that the children are drawing and painting duplicated on fabric using this process! I am imagining that it is so much better than the computer printout/iron-on method, I am wondering what types of materials can this be used on?

  • Oh wow! I love how simple this is and how cute it looks!! 🙂 Now I’m wondering where did you get this beautiful white scarf? I’ve been looking for those for quite a while now!

  • Oh, the pastels… I never ordered them. Maybe next year, when it´s time again to come up with a workshop idea for the girls camp I use to volunteer at.

  • this is dangerous. like, worse than a bedazzler. i’m going to have a hard time NOT drawing on everything i own that’s blank.

i’m going to replicate this asap. hope you’re okay with us being twinsies.

  • Great video. I know you mentioned you were expanding into video, and you did a great job! Just the right amount of showing the technique, and I liked how you showed the finished product afterward. Also, the music was good. I’m glad to know about those pastels–looks fun and easy. Thanks!

  • Lovely idea! Great for Christmass! Thank you! 🙂

  • Thanks for the post, and I was checking out some of the beauty salons in Perth and I found http://www.kaylenesellabache.com.au and they have a lot of great stuff there. So they’re worth checking out.

  • What a great idea, and I love how it’s iron-on too. I’ve tried a few fabric markers before and didn’t have much luck. Can’t wait to try these ones, thanks love! <3 Visit my shop: http://www.etsy.com/shop/CrownofCreationShop

  • This seems like a great product to use with kids! I like the sweater, but the scarf definitely looks like crayon…which I personally wouldn’t wear, but think kids would love it!

  • i really want to get myself some baby clothes to customize. it would be a cute baby shower idea too.

  • This is genius! So many doors to amazing patterns have just opened up! I can’t wait to try this out!

  • This is so cool! I’d love to use this to make things with my students!!

  • Pretty neat!! I’m guess you do not want to dry these in a dryer, hahaha! Which is fine by me, seeing as this is a great idea for gifts!

  • What a fantastic idea, never seen these before! Literally endless options 🙂

  • Did you try it in the dryer? Or are you just guessing that it would be a disaster?

  • I really like it! I tried screen printing and it turned out horrible, but this would get the same effect without the hassle.

  • I am absolutely giving this ago. Never really knew how to use them in a way that was more ‘grown up’.
    Thanks,

    Esther

  • Ope, sorry about that! It’s regular, blank white printer paper. Just added it to the post.

  • Love your videos but would be nice to know the material. I’m particularly wondering if that’s just regular white paper?
