Bomb Pop Shots

Yum! bomb pop shots (click through for recipe) Growing up, some of my happiest summer memories are of afternoons at the local pool with my family where we would swim and get special treats at the pool snack bar. One of my favorite things to get was a ice cold red-white-and-blue bomb pop popcicle. We even have video of me at age 4 munching on the giant popcicle with the different colored juices dripping down my chin onto my one-shoulder, Tarzan-style swimsuit. Since the 4th of July holiday is coming up this week, I thought it would be fun to mix one of my favorite childhood summer memories into our (now adult) celebration. Guess what? It’s just as delicious!

Yum! bomb pop shots (click through for recipe) Yum! bomb pop shots (click through for recipe) Take your tall shot glass and fill the glass 3/4 of the way full with the chilled spiked lemonade. Tip the shot glass towards you and slowly pour in the chilled blue curacao until it turns the bottom 1/3 of the shot blue. Allow the color to settle for a moment, and repeat the process with the chilled grenadine. Ideally, you want the curacao and grenadine to hit the inside of the glass before it gets to the rest of the liquid, so if you don’t have much room to do that, start with less lemonade on the next one so you have room. The grenadine is the heaviest liquid, so it will fall all the way to the bottom. Don’t worry if you have a bit of bleed between the colors; the ombré effect is what makes them so pretty!

Think you’ll make some for your next summer gathering? xo. Laura
