DIY Rope Wrapped Planters

This DIY Rope Planter is so simple and cute! - Click for tutorial! Pretty much wrapping anything in rope instantly makes it cuter, am I right? These little Rope Wrapped Planters are no exception. We combined an inexpensive clothesline, some string and a bit of craft paint to add some pizazz to a typical terra cotta pot. Instant cuteness!

-a couple terra cotta pots (We used potted succulents.)
-white acrylic paint
clothesline
-colored string
-hot glue and glue gun
-acrylic paint and foam brush

This DIY Rope Planter is so simple and cute! - Click for tutorial! First, we painted the pots white so that any gaps with the rope didn’t show the orangey terra cotta color. I love the color of the terra cotta pots but not for this project since the rope is white.

We chose to do the “Hi” design, so we wrapped until we had the width of one side of the capital H. Leave your string hanging at the bottom and leave about a 1/2″ blank space then start the other side of the H with another piece of string. Continue to wrap your white rope around the pot. When you get back to the spot where your letter is, repeat the process right below the first row. You can easily see where to wrap the colored string when you are working on it. Tip: when you’re on your third row of wrapping the letters, make sure to start the “i” to the right of the H. You know, to spell “Hi”! Continue to secure with hot glue as you go.

When we finished wrapping, we felt like it needed more color, so we used turquoise acrylic paint and painted a few sections to jazz it up!

This DIY Rope Planter is so simple and cute! - Click for tutorial! Aren’t they so cute!? It’s such an easy and fun project! We want to wrap everything in rope and string now. We put them on my side table, and I’ve moved them around a little on my mantel. I love the little “Hi” greeting whenever I see them. I also love succulents since it’s basically the only plant I can keep alive. So that’s a plus! I want to do a bigger pot with a cactus next time! Until then… xoxo –Mallory & Savannah
