DIY Scratch-Off Advent Calendar

Every year I try to come up with a new cute/clever advent calendar. My kids love the little gifts and activities, so it’s not really necessary, but I definitely get a kick out of seeing the magic a new advent calendar year brings. Cheesy? Sure. When it comes to my daughters, I’m all cheese. Anyway, as we’re getting more and more years behind us, coming up with new concepts can be challenging. I’ve had this idea for a DIY scratch-off something in my back pocket for a while now, so I figured this was the perfect opportunity to use it!

Supplies:
-paper snowflakes
-cardstock
-dish soap
-metallic paint and paintbrush
-circular punch
-shapes or numbers stamps and ink pad
-small boxes and wrapping paper
-craft glue

To begin, punch out 25 circles from your cardstock. Mark these circles with your shape/number stamps. Be sure to keep track of how many of each you use so you can match your gifts to your circles.

Next, mix 1 part dish soap to 2 parts paint. Cover your stamped circles with the paint mixture. This will take 3-4 coats of paint. Let them dry as you move onto the next step.

Map out the paper snowflakes into the shape of a tree. Use your craft glue to tack the snowflakes into place. Once this step is complete, glue the scratch-off circles to the center of the snowflakes.

The last step is wrapping your presents and adding the coordinating shapes/numbers to the bottoms of the boxes. Now it’s time to set it all up!

Each day, scratch off a circle and match the shape/number to a present under the tree. This advent doesn’t just have to be for kids. Fill your boxes with anything you want—activities, treats, money, gifts, etc. Add fairy lights for a dreamy touch and enjoy some holiday spirit! xo. Katie
