Easy Photo Cupcake Topper DIY!

If you’ve ever thrown parties before, then you know how much work they can be! Once you plan the menu, make the food, clean the house, well, sometimes there’s not a whole lot of energy leftover to think of the decorations. Having a few easy party decor ideas in your back pocket can really help keep your effort low while adding those special touches that make celebrations memorable. This photo cupcake topper idea is a quick and cute way to add some flair to your next gathering, and you can customize the toppers to reflect whatever it is you want to celebrate! Supplies:
A Design Kit app (not available for Android—sorry!)
-glitter or patterned paper or cardstock
-printer and photo paper
-scissors
-long toothpicks and tape
large circle punch (optional)

First, open the A Design Kit app, choose your photo and crop it to contain the main part of the photo that you want to be in your photo circle. Choose the circle outline in the “design” category and resize the circle to just fit into your square. Add any stickers, words, or doodles using that circle as a guide for what will fit inside your finished area and save your photo when you are done. If you want to create a topper without a photo, simply choose a background from the background options instead of a photo when you open the app and continue with the rest of the steps.
Resize your photos in Photoshop or whichever photo printing program you use to whatever size you want the final circle to be and print out your toppers. If you want to print several out on one page like I did, resize each photo separately and then copy/paste them onto one larger 8.5″ x 11″ sheet. Cut out your photo toppers just inside of the circle guide. If you have a large circle punch, you can use that to punch out circles of glittery or patterned paper and print your photos just a bit smaller than the punch dimensions so you have a border around your photo. You can also use scissors for this part, but the punch is great to get a really clean edge.Tape or glue your photos to your circle backings and tape or glue your long toothpicks to the back of your toppers. Now you’re ready to stick them in some cupcakes and get your party started! As you can see, you can use just a photo, a photo with words, one of the cute stickers (like the rainbow or daisy) by themselves or with words, so there are tons of options to choose from! As you can imagine, these are great for birthdays, holidays, engagements/weddings … just about anything! These toppers would also look great mixed in with something like this or these as well for a little variety. Hope this makes your next party planning a little easier and a little more personalized, too! xo. Laura
