Today I am excited to share a tour of my laundry room with you! This was by FAR the simplest and easiest room to renovate in our home, and we love the new space. It’s fresh, clean and does the job. It’s not the fanciest of laundry rooms, but it feels that way to me because I’ve never had such a spacious laundry room before.
But first, a walk down memory lane! You can see all the before photos here.
The before was not bad at all, so we didn’t change all that much. What we did was replace the linoleum floor with penny tile, replace the counters with marble (we got a discount because we did a couple bathrooms at the same time), and add peel and stick subway tile to two of the walls. We also replaced the hardware and the faucet and added a couple decor pieces, while keeping it mostly minimal… because who really needs an overly decorated laundry room anyway??
We painted the door a light seafoam to add just a little punch of color. The hanging plants are totally fake (here are some of my favorites), but they add some color to the space, and as an added bonus— they will never die… haha. (The rest of the plants are real. I am a big fan of only using fake plants in hard-to-reach places.)
I love penny round and this is the only space in our home where we used it. You can see here this is also the space where our dogs have food and water.
We kept the existing storage and just updated it with a fresh coat of white paint and some new gold hardware. I love having all those shelves because we keep all our power tools, extra lightbulbs and batteries… things like that in this area. Safe from future kiddos (we already did some kid-proofing before our Home Study for our adoption).
I added just a couple prints from Etsy artist Bree Madden. I had them bookmarked in my Etsy faves for years. Do you ever do that? 
The gold hooks are from CB2 and the faucet was a super inexpensive one from Amazon ($30 I believe) that I had metal plated in brushed brass.
Right around the time we moved, I transitioned so many things in our home to more natural options. Replacing dryer sheets with these wool balls (with essential oils) was one of the easiest things we did. I love them! I also make my own cleaning sprays and things like that. It’s somewhat of a hobby now and makes me happy to know I am taking little steps toward creating a greener household.

I love that it is bright, airy, and practical but still looks like a part of your home as it shares some of the color schemes and hardware. Your wool dryer balls look so cute in that jar. I’m happy I made the switch a couple years ago too. Less drying time and less artificial fragrance pollution!

1) how do you use those dryer balls? you just toss them in , all at the same time? and what about smell? do you add your own smell with the oils? and if so, how so? so many questions!!!!
2) i know you’ve mentioned it before about moving…..i know you said you were planning to stay there for about 5 years and then move but because of the market, you wont anymore. why were you planning to move again to begin with? was this just going to be a nashville starter home until you got the feel of the land? why is it harder now? or, how does that work?

2. Regarding moving, when we chose to move here we decided to stay a minimum of five years, but we were always open to staying longer. The house has everything we need to raise a family, so we won’t need to move. I figured we would make want to move, but since settling in here I love it even more than I thought I would. So we’ll probably stay. If we did move we’d do it for the schools (that’s a whole thing here). Anwyway! I just haven’t seen any houses for sale within even double what our house cost that I love more than ours… so that’s the other reason we’ll probably stay. But who knows! 😀 Never say never.

Hi Elsie! I l adore this laundry room and the subway tile. I’d love to use it in mine but I’m concerned about heat/steam affecting the peel and stick. Have you had any issues or concerns regarding peeling due to heat?

These tiles are SO SO sticky- they will actually damage your wall if you try to remove them (like real tile). So I haven’t seen any peeling whatsoever.

Was having a cheaper faucet metal plated a more cost efficient option than finding a brass faucet – o r was it just to get an exact match to the hardware? Just got some beautiful new brushed brass kitchen hardware and am having a hard time coordinating with a sink.
In this case it was much less expensive (probably saved $100ish) because the faucet I got was only, like, $30 on Amazon. It was really random though- it went out of stock right after I ordered it.
I love all our brass plated stuff, but where we went it took FOREVER (like 2 months haha) so that was a little annoying.

It seems like you have a high ceiling … why not also add an Edwardian airer. I have 2 in my laundry …. I especially designed the raked ceiling to follow the roof line with extra space ( plus a vent ) so I could pull the airers up ….. inexpensive, save the planet … all that hot air rises to dry the washing overnight.

I love it! I’m obsessed with beautiful laundry rooms! Probably because we live in an apartment with a stackable unit in the hallway right now, and I do a lot of laundry! ? I especially love the white throughout with the mint on the door, so refreshing!
