Elsie’s Palm Springs Inspired Kiddo Room

Palm Springs Kiddo RoomToday I am super excited to share a tour of the newest completed room in our home, our kid-friendly guest room! Due to the fact that we moved seven hours away from our family and some of our closest friends this past year, it was a HUGE priority for us to create guest room(s) that are family friendly. Most of our siblings and friends have young children, so our goal was to create a set up that would accommodate families comfortably. And – holy cow – have we USED these rooms. We’ve had guests 2-3 times per month since January. We’ve often joked that we’re running a bed and breakfast over here, and we’re so grateful to invite our family and friends to come stay, often times impromptu, on a regular basis.

Palm Springs Kiddo Room The Palm Springs theme came to me randomly, and I couldn’t get it out of my brain. I am OBSESSED with kid-versions of grown-up things (like outfits that look like tiny adults, or tiny kids’ kitchen sets or little kid-size cars). So ultimately it seemed appropriate to create a kiddo version of my favorite place – Palm Springs, California. So I covered pages and pages of my journal with random ideas and things about Palm Springs that I wanted to give a “nod” to… see if you can spot them all!

It was a HUGE hit with Penelope as you will see below. 🙂

Collecting cute things like this is so much fun, and honestly, I have a lot of crazy clothes from my own collection that I just threw in there for them to play with.

Palm Springs Kiddo Room The bunk beds were the starting point for my design. I knew I wanted to find beds where the bottom bunk was a full size (so adults could comfortably stay in this room too when needed). I found this bunk bed frame for a pretty awesome price. We decided to paint it bubble gum pink. Then the twin and full mattresses we have are from Casper, a company I was introduced to when they donated a (very comfortable) mattress to our Habitat For Humanity house last year. This setup has been incredibly functional!
