Lip Balm Locket DIY (Only Need 3 Ingredients!)

If you are a lip balm addict, you probably have them spread all over the place—your purse, your car, your nightstand … well, I bet you didn’t know that you can create a lip balm that you can wear and have with you at all times! With only three ingredients you can make a moisturizing lip balm to pour into a locket with cinnamon leaf essential oil that boosts the circulation in your lips and give them a bit of a natural plump (no injections needed!).Lip Balm Ingredients:

2 tablespoons beeswax pellets
1 tablespoon coconut oil (use refined if you don’t want a coconut smell mixed in with your fragrance)
5 drops of cinnamon leaf essential oil (don’t use cinnamon bark oil on your skin, so make sure it’s cinnamon leaf)

Other supplies:
craft locket, chain, and jump ring to make a long necklace (or you can get one that’s already put together)
double boiler or glass heat-proof bowl and saucepan
pourable container with a spout

Add your beeswax and coconut oil to a glass heat-proof bowl or double boiler pan. Place your bowl or double boiler over water that’s a medium boil and allow the beeswax and coconut oil to melt together, stirring every so often. While your wax melts, open your locket and prop it up with tape or other objects so that one side is flat and level. Once your oil and wax is melted, take off the heat and allow to cool slightly. Add in your cinnamon essential oil and stir. Pour your mixture into a container that has a spout for easier pouring. Pour your mixture into one half of your locket and allow it to cool completely and solidify (should only take a few minutes for that small amount). Remove the tape and tape the other half of your locket flat and pour your balm into that half. If the mixture in your pourable container solidified before you got to pouring the second half, just put it back into the bowl over a saucepan or double boiler and it will melt again. Once you balm solidifies, your locket is ready to wear! If you bought supplies to make your own necklace, just cut a long piece of chain to the length you want, put the locket on the chain, and attach the chain ends together with a jump ring. If you are making a long necklace that will fit over you head, you don’t need a closure, but you will if you are making a short one. This recipe is enough to make several lockets and you’ll still have a little leftover to keep in a small container in your car, purse, or bathroom (and as with any essential oil product, discontinue use if any irritation or sensitivity occurs). The balm should remain in a solid state once cooled, but since it can melt if the temperature gets hot enough, maybe don’t wear this to an outdoor summer festival in the desert just in case … The cinnamon in this lip balm smells sooo good and now that you know how easy it is to whip up a batch, you can use this all day long to your heart’s content! xo.
