Nashville Friends! Come to our food drive this weekend!!

Nashville ABM Food Drive If you are in the Nashville, TN area on Sunday, October 30th, we will be hosting a food drive at White’s Mercantile (on 12th Ave S) from 2-4pm to benefit Second Harvest Food Bank. Emma and I will be there hanging out and would love to meet you! There will be food trucks and photo ops. We’re just excited to meet you! *This is a rain or shine event!

So if you’re around, come by and bring some nonperishables, and we’ll donate them to the food bank for you. The most needed items include: peanut butter, canned meat (tuna and chicken), canned vegetables, canned fruit, pasta, cereal.

If you’re not in the Nashville area and can’t make the event, you can still participate by tagging ANY food photos on Instagram with the tag #ABMfooddrive. We are donating $1 for every photo (up to $10,000). And I don’t want to make you guys feel bad, but we need MORE POSTS. Keep posting! Tell your friends! It’s an easy way to give back and make a real difference in our communities.

Love you, guys! Can’t wait to meet some of you on Sunday!! Elsie + Emma too

  • This is so great! I am baking banana bread tonight to bring to a friend so I’ll be sure to tag it. 🙂

For work a couple years ago, I had to interview a woman who has run a Chicago food pantry for over 30 years. Your recommendations are spot on re: what is needed. If local ABM readers plan to bring tuna, think about getting cans with pop-tops. That makes it easier for homeless people to eat.

If anyone not in Nashville is curious about ways to help the hungry in their community, something she said to keep in mind was this: “Don’t just raid your cupboards for unwanted food; ask your food pantry want they need. … No recipient at our pantry ever wants gefilte fish, coconut milk, miso, bamboo shoots, or water chestnuts.”

She also mentioned that it’s the end of the month when they see the greatest demand, so the timing of your event is spot on.

Good luck and thanks for all the good you do IRL in your community and by keeping up this blog. It’s always a spot of sunshine in my day.

  • Question related to A Color Story App. Is there support I can speak to about the fact that I paid for the full version on my last phone and recently got a new phone and went to download it to find I do not have access to the full version I paid for any longer? I love your blog and apps but this was very disappointing for me.

  • Hi Bri! No problem. Just click on the Shop button to restore your purchases. If you need anything else just contact us at acolorstory.com/support. -Jacki
