Natural Products I’ve Tried Lately

There are probably a lot of you out there who also have skin issues, and this clear skin kit has really made a difference in how my skin looks and feels lately. I tend to have pretty dry skin but since using this system I haven’t had any problems with flaky skin (usually most noticeable when I put foundation on) and my face feels soft and moisturized, and has reduced redness as well (I’ve also been using their optional toner and overnight serum). It’s definitely a different system from what I’ve used before since no water is involved and it has a thin face mask that you leave on all night, but I love it and it’s an extra bonus that all the items are pink too—ha!

We just started using this at our house recently and I am so excited!! It’s something I’ve been wanting to try for years since so much of what we throw out can be composted and used for gardens or flower beds around the yard, but I just never got around to setting it all up. We keep this on our counter so we don’t have to go out to the composter every day and it holds several days of food scraps while keeping the smells sealed inside.

I actually found not one, but two deodorants that I love recently. This one smells amazing and the lavender and tangerine essential oils are both anti-bacterial and moisture balancing, and this one has activated charcoal to help combat body odor.

I loooove a good lipstick and I just found this (in the Temptation shade) as a new daily favorite (it has vitamin E and rosemary extract). I also started using this lip and cheek duo that acts more like a lip stain on your lips so the color stays for an extra long time and you can buff a little onto your cheeks if you need some extra color (the b.sassy is my favorite shade).

For those of you who are also “lash-obsessed” out there like I am, give this a try to get some more volume and length from your mascara! You can either pair it with your own fave brand or use it in conjunction with their thickening and lengthening mascara.

The weather has been totally in the “April showers” category lately, so I’ve been using this like crazy every day to lift the mood. Nothing like a little extra glow and shimmer to boost the mood! (Check out our favorite natural bronzers post for more of our faves!)

Lately I’ve been trying to be extra kind to my hair as I grow out my awkward hair growth that having a baby can bring (you other postpartum moms know what I mean!), so I’ve been using this shampoo that you can customize with essential oils based on your particular hair needs. It uses turmeric extract’s antibacterial properties to help cleanse the scalp and bamboo extract for natural shine and luster. I chose rosemary essential oil to help with hair growth and I use with this conditioner that has passion fruit seed oil to help hydrate my hair as well. They also have a leave-in-conditioner that smells amazing because it has fenugreek that naturally smells like maple syrup, so your hair smells like pancakes in the best possible way for an hour or so after you apply it—yum!

That’s what I’ve been trying and loving lately! Let me know if you have any products that you’d like to recommend! xo. Laura

  • Do you have any recommendations for hair spray? I love that you guys are all into natural products, and I am trying to switch over, but that has been a hard one…

    • Hmm, I don’t have one personally! I don’t use hair spray much but see if EWG’s skin deep site has any suggestions for that?

  • If you haven’t tried it already, olio and osso makes a really nice tinted lip balm/stain that I also use as a cheek tint as well. My favorites are 2 and 4.

  • For the compost thing, we actually have compost removal services in our city (Ottawa, Canada’s Capital) and people are often complaining about the smell it can bring when composting in the summer. Our household trick is that we keep the compost bag in the freezer (we do however own an upright freezer we store in the garage so we have enough space in our fridge’s freezer for this). In the summer, we just bring the bag out to the compost been the morning of pick up and voilà. Winters make it easier as it’s frigid cold out here and we can just toss the bag in the bin as they fill up without issues with smell……pretty sure the outside is actually colder than the freezer anyway. Just a little trick if you hadn’t thought about it.

  • Reading this post after yesterdays post…Will one of the deodorants mentioned above ever be in the Beauty Box? Thanks!

  • I love these posts! Any chance that those linked “this”s be more descriptive? I missed that cool composter the first time around! Totally want to get it now
