News from The Golden Girl Rum Club

It’s been a while since I updated you all about our bar, The Golden Girl Rum Club. Too long! But first, just in case any of you hadn’t heard a little over a year ago, Trey and I partnered with some friends and opened a bar in our hometown of Springfield, MO. You can see a tour of the bar here. During the course of the first year, about one million little things happened. 🙂 So, I just thought I’d share a few random highlights with you all.

Rogan and the team at GG have dreamed up and served SOOO many delicious drinks this year. I mean, whoa. If you like to see pretty cocktails and maybe learn a little about rum here and there too, you should totally follow us on Instagram. Also, sometime in the near future, Rogan is going to share a few cocktail recipes with us—which I am super excited about!

We also won a few local awards—our city has been kind to us! We won Best New Bar from Ozarks Best and Best Cocktail Menu from 417 Magazine.

One big change is this past year we added a patio to the front of the bar, so there’s lots of extra seating/standing space during the warm weather months. And there have been lots of small changes inside as well, like Rogan’s ever growing collection of (personal) tiki mugs behind the bar and our green felt board menu that features more rotating items.

And speaking of the menu, we recently had a new one printed and it’s SO pretty. It was designed by Frank Norton and Rogan and I just love the little illustrations for the drinks and food. I keep telling them we should turn them into enamel pins, right?!

Over the past year, I’ve met a few of you as you visited the bar during road trips across the country or visiting friends or family and it’s been so cool. Thank you SO much for stopping in! It’s my absolute favorite spot in town, but obviously I’m biased. Just a little. 🙂 I hope I see more of you there in the years to come. Cheers! xo. Emma

P.S. Not pictured (because it wasn’t in yet) is our new slushie machines!!!! I cannot wait to see what Rogan comes up with for those. I LOVE a great frozen drink in the summer, so I am beyond excited. They should be up and going ASAP, so any Springfield locals, go check it out.

  • If I ever find myself in Springfield, I will definitely be stopping in! The place looks so cute and who doesn’t love a tiki drink every now and then!?

  • I just love EVERYTHING you’ve done! You’ve really created something special. 🙂 Keep up the amazing work. I’d love to stop by for a mai tai someday if I ever am traveling your way

  • I was in Branson filming last week and made the trip to Springfield just to go here! I loved it! Ummm— the tacos were LEGIT TASTY. Also— I LOVE the pin idea with the drink illustrations! I really wanted to take something with me when I left, and I totally would have bought a pin with the drink I got on it. You should definitely do that! I hope I have to go back next summer, I’m totally stopping in again!

    • Yes, I LOVE our tacos. You can get them as a rice bowl too and it’s seriously one of my absolute favorite dinners in town. I love all of them but I usually bet the tikka masala seitan bowl.

Thanks for stopping in! We not have our gold pins in stock, but I’d love to add a cute tee or more pin design options someday so good to hear you would have been into it. That always helps as we think through things. 🙂

  • Congratulations on your successes! The bar turned out beautiful and you really can’t beat a good rum based cocktail on a patio during summer (or feeling like you’re vacationing in the tropics during winter!). Really well done!

  • I love the design and aesthetic of the Rum Club. You ladies have such vision and execution and should be super proud of all you’ve accomplished. The drinks are SO beautiful and unique! I don’t drink alcohol, but I absolutely would there.

P.S. There’s an awesome tiki inspired bar in Paris called the Lone Palm, which I think you would appreciate! It’s decorated in Mad Men style and has such a cool, underground vibe.

  • It would be sooooo awesome if you guys could start linking the header image for new articles to the long form post. I keep right clicking to open the article in a new tab and it’s just the picture and not the post!

    • The title links to the post. So, for example, if you want to open the post in a new tab so you can accurately pin a link, just click on “7/20 NEWS FROM THE GOLDEN GIRL RUM CLUB” right above the header photo.

  • I love this Emma! GGRC is basically my dream bar. I would love to visit one day and hopefully open my own tropical bar someday too. Can’t wait to see what you and Rogan do!

  • If I’m ever in Springfield, I would totally visit. It looks like such a cute spot to hangout. I love your story and am very happy you have found so much success! Congrats! 🙂

  • I love that GGRC caters to all fives senses! The beautiful and well designed aesthetic, the smell and taste of the drinks and food, the textile/sensory fun of all the neat containers and toppers, and I bet some awesome music completing the scene.

I hope to visit if I’m ever close enough!

  • It’s so nice to see you stepping out of your sisters (kitschy twee ) shadow. Your bar is lovely Emma.

  • I’ve been obsessed with your Lady Pineapple logo from day one! It would make a fantastic tattoo too! But I guess a logo enamel pin wouldn’t be so bad either!

If I ever make it to Springfield, I’ll sure stop by!

  • Still planning to make that trip from KC. We know that there’s plenty to do but GGRC is what I’m looking forward too!

Congrats on the growth and success!
