I have been on a breakfast kick lately. I’ve been making frittata, hash browns and of course, donuts! I am more often than not a savory breakfast kind of gal. But when I get a sweet tooth, I really get a sweet tooth, if you know what I mean. If you like something sweet in the morning I would highly recommend waffles.Β But not just any waffles. What about waffles that are laced with Nutella? Oh yes. Let’s do this.Nutella Swirl Waffles, serves 2-3.
3/4 cup flour
1/4 cup corn starch
1 teaspoon sugar
1/2 teaspoon baking soda
1/2 teaspoon salt
1 cup buttermilk
1/3 cup oil
1 egg
1/3 cup Nutella
1 tablespoon Canola oil
Whisk together the flour, corn starch, sugar, baking soda and salt. Now stir in the buttermilk, oil and egg. Allow the batter to rest for 20 minutes.
For the Nutella you can go a couple different routes. You can swirl it into the batter before pouring into your waffle maker. Or you can swirl it over the batter after you’ve poured it into your waffle maker. I tried both and they both worked fine for me. Swirling it over the batter after pouring it into the waffle maker was probably a little bit prettier. If that matters to you. π
Either way you’ll want to thin the Nutella a little. Stir together the Nutella and canola oil in a microwave safe bowl or cup. Microwave on high for 30 seconds, then stir a little more. This should be thin enough to drizzle, if not add a little more oil.Serve warm with plenty of maple syrup. Happy breakfast! xo. Emma

im not a huuuuge fan of nutella but i would definitely like to make these at home for the siblings!
im not a cook so i have a serious question (and yes you can laugh out loud! lol) when you say 1/3 nutella, does this mean like scoop it up and fill the entire 1/3 all the way and then melt it oooor you mean scoop some out and melt it with the oil and then only use 1/3 of however much you melted?
(see what i mean!!!)
haha.
thanks for sharing!

My mouth says yes, my arteries say a huge no- especially to a portion of 3 with butter and maple syrup! But I know you’d only have this has a treat.
I am totally making these for my husband on Christmas morning! Nutella and waffles are his favorite, so this would be the perfect combination.
Who on planet earth could possibly say no to these?! I loooove baking with nutella and I’d done pancakes before, but not waffles. Definitely on my to-do list!

Fill your 1/3 measuring cup with Nutella. Simple as that π Then follow the mixing instructions.
oh my gosh stop. i need to make these now!
I’m not Emma, but the recipe says 1/3 cup of Nutella plus 1 tablespoon of canola oil, all melted together. Only melt what you need. So measure, then melt, and use all the melted Nutella your heart desires.

Oil is listed twice (understandably since it is divided use) however one has just “oil” and another “canola oil.” What type of oil should be used for the one listed without a type (the 1/3 C measurement)?
Thanks!
My kids lovvee nutella and they will love this for breakfast
