Nutella Swirl Waffles

Nutella Swirl Waffles I have been on a breakfast kick lately. I’ve been making frittata, hash browns and of course, donuts! I am more often than not a savory breakfast kind of gal. But when I get a sweet tooth, I really get a sweet tooth, if you know what I mean. If you like something sweet in the morning I would highly recommend waffles.Β Nutella Swirl WafflesBut not just any waffles. What about waffles that are laced with Nutella? Oh yes. Let’s do this.Nutella waffles batterNutella Swirl Waffles, serves 2-3.

3/4 cup flour
1/4 cup corn starch
1 teaspoon sugar
1/2 teaspoon baking soda
1/2 teaspoon salt
1 cup buttermilk
1/3 cup oil
1 egg
1/3 cup Nutella
1 tablespoon Canola oil

Whisk together the flour, corn starch, sugar, baking soda and salt. Now stir in the buttermilk, oil and egg. Allow the batter to rest for 20 minutes.

For the Nutella you can go a couple different routes. You can swirl it into the batter before pouring into your waffle maker. Or you can swirl it over the batter after you’ve poured it into your waffle maker. I tried both and they both worked fine for me. Swirling it over the batter after pouring it into the waffle maker was probably a little bit prettier. If that matters to you. πŸ™‚

Either way you’ll want to thin the Nutella a little. Stir together the Nutella and canola oil in a microwave safe bowl or cup. Microwave on high for 30 seconds, then stir a little more. This should be thin enough to drizzle, if not add a little more oil.Nutella Swirl Waffles Serve warm with plenty of maple syrup. Happy breakfast! xo. Emma
