Hi there! We have a growing collection of seasonal books for both fall and the holidays, and it grows a little bigger every year. This is one of our traditions that we are building each year!
I thought it would be fun to share our collection with you today! We read every single one of these books multiple times—some wayyy more than that.
But first, here’s the full list in order (from the top left): E.T. The Extra-Terrestrial, Gilbert The Ghost, Vampirina Ballerina, The Scariest Book Ever, Ghosts, How To Make Friends With A Ghost, You’re My Little Pumpkin Pie (the best baby/toddler book!), No Such Thing, Bonaparte Falls Apart, Sweep, It’s A Pumpkin Day Mouse!, Spooky Pookie, Llama Llama Trick Or Treat, Llama Llama Gives Thanks, There’s A Monster In Your Book and The Wonderful Things You Will Be (not technically an autumn book, but there’s page where they are all in costumes so it works).
There’s A Monster In Your Book is a VERY big deal in our home right now.
Sweep is so beautiful. It’s one of our new additions for this autumn.
How To Make Friends With A Ghost. I found this one at a craft fair and it’s so cute.
You’re My Little Pumpkin Pie. If you’ve got a little one who is still young enough to rip pages, this is a great option. Nova still loves to read it all the time too. It’s a hit.

Great list! I’m definitely going to check some of these out! My absolutely favorite 2 fall books are:
1. Space Case by Edward Marshall. This is a cute one about an alien robot who happens to visit Earth on Halloween, so he fits in!
2. A classic, The Little Old Lady Who Wasn’t Afraid of Anything. This one is so fun for kids b/c there are lots of opportunities for making sound effects. There is also a really fun sing along version on Yourube!
Forgot to mention one you’ll love… Coat of Many Colors by none other than Dolly Parton!!

Harriet’s Halloween Candy by Nancy Carlson. Harriet hoards her Halloween candy and resists sharing with her little brother, gobbling all the good stuff until she gets a stomach ache. Then she gladly shares with Walt. A good lesson in sharing.
We love “There’s a Monster In Your Book” At our house too! We just got “There’s a Dragon in Your Book” and it’s just as fun and cute!
I love this! Could you post more kids book lists? Especially seasonally? Finding beautiful and fun seasonal books can be difficult and I love these ones!
We have a two year old girl and we own every single one of Emily Martin’s books! Thanks for the great recommendations. Bonaparte Falls Apart looks adorable! We are also loving “Goodbye Summer, Hello Autumn” by Kenard Pak (gorgeous illustrations!) and “Bikes for Sale” by Carter Higgins (sweet story about making new friends) right now.

Gruff the Grump by Steve Smallman and Cee Biscoe is brilliant and cute and features an orange leaf in a very important role. Plus some upside-down reading. Enjoy!

Our favorites this fall have been Baby Loves Fall by Karen Katz and Where is Baby’s Pumpkin also by Karen Katz. Fall is my favorite time of year and I hope my children will also grow up loving this wonderful season as well!
